Didn't the Cronulla Supplement Scandal happen on the watch of Gallop?

I mean D Smith is still cleaning the mess he and News left it in.

You know what? I've been in business at the highest level and know how I would respond to my staff if they let me down.

You don't fall back on protocol with your senior employees. Smith should have had a relationship with Gallen, as NSW captain, Cameron Smith as Qld captain and both as Captain and Vice captain of Australia.
If he didn't, then it just reinforces my position that he is a poor leader. His relationship should be one that he gets on the phone and says whats going on. Instead he shuffles into some back room, with a do not disturb sign, and ignors attempts from his State Captain to make amends , if not apologise. So Smith relies on the paltry excuse of Protocol and process or procedure to both avoid communication with a State Captain and with his COO who wanted to relay the message.

Stop with your apologist antics. Stop with your spin. It won't wash mate.

He has to go because he just does not have what it takes. We demand better than this rubbish.
But you had no problem with 10 years of Daaaaaaaave????

Under Gallop's watch
The Melbourne Salary Cap fiasco.
Losing Folau and Hunt to fumbleball.
Negotiating what he thought was a huge Tv deal(' The best in Australian sport")$500m over 6 years. Then trumped by the AFL a few months later $780m over 5 years.Giant emu egg left on his face.

No integrity unit in place.

No lobby group to access Govt funding ,and watching the fumbleball code get hundreds of millionms by having such a body.
Little pushing to get stadiums more user friendly and upgraded.
Most clubs living hand to mouth each year.

Promises made to the likes of Perh re expansion, and nothing done.

Whilst CEO of the NRL did not aggressively promote the code ,as he now does with the A League.

Too close to D.T journos and too many leaks coming out. Thus media bias.

Let clubs run like an old boys network, now Smith has to clean up the mess such as at the Tigers and Newcastle.

Under Gallop's watch ASADA reared its ugly head.
In any organisation the buck stops with the head honcho.Gallop got rissoled and rightly so, for being reactive and lacking promotional knowhow and being a News lacky.

Under Gallop no set strategic plan in place.

Chook raffle mentality.

Well said taipan. Makes me laugh when I see comments such as bring back gallop. His ten years in charge set the game back 20 years. We now have the platforms in place to move forward from his wasted years.

No one says bring back gallop and to have to resort to comparing this lot to him actually says a lot about the Smith/Grant/commission fanbois. As if gallop is the alternative.

You can't blame players that are badly undervalued in relation to the effort they put in for feathering their nests underhandedly when the people that ran the game were clearly not listening. Inept management on all fronts has resulted in Smith having to deal with problems that should never have been let get out of hand . . . on and off the field

Well summed up taipan.
Gallop and the clubs who were pulling his strings held this code back.
Those same clubs now want to rid the code of Grant and Smith, take away the independence and turn the whole thing into Punch and Judy's puppet show again, probably spend all the cash like the last government did and send us all spiralling into massive debt and have nothing to show for it again.

Look, lets just get our heads around this for a minute.
Right now the code will be close to banking 100 million, after only 2 years. The 2014 report card will be out next year.
To put this in real terms, money talks, bullshite walks.

Now compare that to what happened to this country the last decade. The government gifted afl 2 billion in academies , new grounds and stadiums,Pokie clubs in and a free passage to heartland rugby and soccer areas.

To really understand the damage caused is to now realise that Redcliffe cant even get a 3 million federal government grant across the line.

Feds owe 700 billion.
Qld Gov owe 80 billion.

NRL will be 100 million in the black.

To turn this country around, the feds need to open the purse-strings and start supporting the other three quarters of this country, those who follow soccer rugby league and rugby union.

Punch-ball has done enough damage.
Gallop was simply a puppet and had our code living on life support because he gave the game away not for 5 years, he added a year and made it 6, six faking long years of suffering.
Even Moses and the desert dwellers suffered less.

I think you are deluded but since you've made the accusation - name the clubs.

He's the f**king predecessor for Christ sake of course they're going to compare Dave Smith to him.

And people might not be saying it here but they're saying it elsewhere. Not many people mind, but there are a fair few blockheads that follow this great game.

I'm sick of the LU posters going on about how well run the AFL is.

But shit man, I would be happy if my code could pay off the star witnesses in the biggest legal case the code has ever faced.

That is where you are wrong. Gallop is the alternative. He is a rugby league man, he understands rugby league and can be manipulated by the string pullers.
Gallop (or someone that looks like him) is the man that the sydney clubs want back in to run,,,,things.

Look, run away from this code as fast as you can if they get their way, (happen to get rid of Smith and Grant), because the game will be a laughing stock, Eddie Mcguire will be laughing his tits off, and never again can the game be classed as being independent, not when clubs can rid of the independence.

Dave Smith realised a massive problem our code had,,,, Image.

With 4 codes to choose from, our code was at the bottom of the rung because of our image.

No Oikee, it was at the top of the rung despite its image. An image that David Galoot did nothing to correct and which his mates at news ltd perpetuated.

Any company that throws money at something that clearly doesn't work like they do with GWS simply isn't a well run company.

I think they are a joke and hope they fold, but like the Storm or any further expansion club in League, you really have to wait around 20 years before you can judge this stuff.
