I don't get paid 500k a year, he has been running the game for over 10 years and he still sounds like a clueless twit. Did you hear what Grant had to say??? He was all class even after all the media Stoodges having a dig at him. Chalk and cheese in fact.

He was answering impromptu questions & avoiding saying what he wanted to say. He's not employed as an impromptu public speaker, never has been.
Good for Grant at speaking to a more acceptable standard; if his actions are as good as his speech NRL should be laughing in no time huh?

Giving a man a 4 year contract then getting rid of him 4 months later looks amateurish and like the ARLC board has no idea what it wants. Then when they finally get rid of him, to get rid of him in the middle of tv negotiations is hopeless. They should have either got rid of him at the end of his last contract or waited till next year.

I agree with most of your post (mark that up as a first) but maybe Gallop's involvement with the new tv deal was so insignificant the timing didn't matter. It's not like Gallop was doing it single handedly and the clubs said long ago that they didn't want him to be involved with negotiations this time around. Perhaps this could work favourably with bids from 7 and 10. It's all just speculation as to what effect if any this will have on negotiations and I have faith that the ARLC have more idea than any of us as to what they're doing and why.

I don't care, he has been the biggest lackey the game has ever seen.

Just because you're sad he is gone doesn't mean I have to be.

I'm not saying you should be anything, I'm saying that it's low to be giving a guy grief about showing a bit of emotion about our game, something which I've been critical about him not having for a while.

I don't think he should have lead the game after the IC formation, but I don't think you should feel good about somebody getting tears in their eyes when saying the line "Thank you, it is the greatest game of all" when leaving a job he has been doing for 10 years.

I was kidding with the "he's going to cry" post, but I stand by everything I have said re: him resigning is good for the game.

There would be nothing more decisive for the fans than a current club CEO being given this role.

The perception of bias when dealing with matters relating to his old club would continue for years.

It needs to be someone who has a good knowledge of the game, but isn't tied to any one club.
Typical amateurish response. Do you know a number of CEOs go from team to team. They don't just work for the team they support. The top class CEOs that would be in the conversation like Greenberg are professional. And if they did show bias they wouldn't last long.

I'm assuming you mean divisive.

If so, then yes I agree.

He's not doing it singlehandedly, he might not even have the leading role but he obviously has a role to an extent. And you either don't want him to perform that role at all and you get rid of him before it starts or you do want him performing the role and you let him go after it's done.

The only time an organisation lets go of its CEO in the middle of the most important negotiations that organisation does is when the CEO shows some gross incompetence.

Cant remember his name, but the derp on 9 just then said that Gallop was there when the Warriors were brought in.... idiot.

Also said "Gallop left the game in better position then when he got it 10 years ago". Well of course he did, he had a hand in putting the game in the shit 14 years ago.

So it's ok the CEO of a multi million dollar buisness sounds like an absolute clueless Numpty when being interviewed???? He has always been terrible when talking to the media and after 10 years you have thought he would have at least improved. Grant has already got rid of this stooge he is off to a flying start.

Perhaps the organisation weren't happy with the way he was contributing with the deal/ his current performance, which was what was being alluded to, you f**kwit

The wicked witch is dead.

Gillard is dead?

Goodbye and good riddance you News Limited stoodge, everytime i hear hear he did a fantastic job i have to laugh. He handed over the TV rights for chump change that didn't even go to tender last time. The main reason RL has been living off the smell of an oily rag for years, he did a great job for his masters at News he did f**k all for the game of RL.

I concur.

Melinda Gainsford Taylor should step up. People with big faces produce. See Stephen Kearney

LMAO.

I'd love to see Jaimee in a tight fitting power suit with her hair tied up in a bun. She would definitely help promote our game.

Smash that glass ceiling. And bend over.

There have been some excellent candidates so far, but for me it has to be Steve Mortimer.

Surely you jest. He's a simpleton.

On Fox Sports.

Basically, he was pushed due to poor performance.

I love you John Grant.

Steak sangas at Charny on me next time I'm down RP. UI agree 100%.

John Grant - "it was a reactive business"

Nail on the head.

J. Grant is the man. Thats why the Tele have it in for him.

John Grant you rock!!

f**k oath he does.

Ummmm Aaaaaaahhhhhh f**k off Dave.

On ya bike, son.

Mark Arbib anyone?

NO f**kING WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

John Fahey - YES. Olympics. WADA. Ex Player.

Fox Sports News basically did a Kanye West saying that David Gallop was the greatest sports administrator of all time.

Quite embarrassing really.

Sucked in you merkins. Puppets the lot of you. I hope you lose the rights so I can disconnect you,

What's a bet we see a split in how the media will report this.

9 and Fox on Gallop's side

everyone else on Grant's side.

The great thing is, the media have been given a big f**k YOU by Grant and the Board. These are hardened businessmen. Not stooges and not ex League Land Boardroom Cronies.

Power to them. They've given me a great birthday present.

From the way News Ltd are reacting, it seems they were banking on Gallop helping them with the TV deal. This just threw a spanner in their plans.

Well done ARLC.

See my last quote above.

For another thread, but John Fahey, I am certain, will come in to contention.

Currently has the most powerful job in all of sport, loves League, played at first grade level, bought the Olympics to Sydney.

Demetriou would shit himself when they met. Fahey is a big, intimidating, smart and ruthless man.

It sure looks like amateur hour to set up the RLIC, contract this guy as CEO and bring him across to the New World Order then in short order sack him whilst in the middle of the biggest commercial negotiation of their lives with no successor identified or even considered. Whether he is good for the Game or not (and without a successor identified yet, how would you know how wise this move is?) the way it has been handled is ham fisted, reactionary, poorly planned and woefully executed. How, after this schamozzle, we can have any confidence in the RLIC, or in the judgement, ability and skill of its' members, is beyond me.

FSN and the media at the press conference kept on going on about the 4year deal!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Gallops new contract a part of the stipulation of NEW Ltd handing the game over?

no http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sp...ur-year-contract/story-e6frexnr-1226250303981

but some at News aren't happy i think although they were only bagging him recently

Andrew Webster rubbished Gallop here http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/n...rom-david-gallop/story-e6frfgbo-1226377781291
