So it's ok the CEO of a multi million dollar buisness sounds like an absolute clueless Numpty when being interviewed???? He has always been terrible when talking to the media and after 10 years you have thought he would have at least improved. Grant has already got rid of this stooge he is off to a flying start.
You obviously were mesmerised by his speech patterns because the words he spoke were not those of a numpty.
Of course, after a while it is hard making an answer to the same question he's been asked 10 times already sound interesting I guess whilst treading lightly & not going into 'taboo' territory.
However you have been listening to him speak for the past 10 years; one would have thought you'd be used to his style of answering hard questions while having moronic cameramen shoving lens in your face.

So public speaking qualifies a man to be a CEO?
Great, they can put Derryn Hinch in to run the show then!

Yeah great you love Dave, anyone with a brain can see him for what he was. A news Lackey who served his masters well, a weak leader who at times talked up our major competitor as to why they are a better TV product than us. Never stood up to Nein or News once for the betterment of the game, and terrible with a microphone is his face.

The final impediment to rugby league being the most dominant football code in the country had been removed. That's all I have to say about that.

So where do you start

Gallop the person who assisted greatly the demise of so many clubs and fans from the game during teh SL war as their lawyer

To then pick up peices and try and save the game with a status quo for 10 years

And only the legal challenge put up by souths allowed Souths and the Gold Coast to re-enter the comp

Yes he was better than Whittaker and Moffat

Like many have said he lead a team that was status quo or reactionary

There was very little vision

And lets not forget that during his involvment in RL he saw the demise of

Norths, Wests, Balmain, St George, Illawarra, Gold Coast, Crushers, Perth, Adelaide, Hunter

And we had the death of two layers in our game Reserve Grade and U23's

International RL was at its lowest a few years ago

Today the NZ domestic comp is almost dead

NSW Country RL is dying a slow painful death

Little changed since the famous SL vision of 14 teams being shown on Pay-TV. If it wasn't the NRL it did not matter

But the biggest blight he will leave on the game is the stripping of a team of 2 premierships. He did not put measures in place to make sure it would not happen again after the Bulldogs fiasco

Yes RL needed some stability after the SL war but the price was too high

i think the bloke worked his guts out. probably administered during the most tumultuous periods of the game's history. had to balance the interests of many stakeholders without being seen to be favouring one, but all the while really having no choice but appease the stakeholder that helped put him in the position. if he stood down during the partnership, he would've been replaced by just another news lackey. i reckon he really had the game's interest at heart and did what he could under the circumstances. news ltd had its margins from subscription services as the primary objective, and the ARL were an old farts organisation with no ideas, just living off the NRL dividend. in the end, both of those stakeholders were just plundering the game.

really difficult to achieve results in such an environment. and in 10 years of dealing with such circumstances, he really doesn't know how to really administer progressively which is what is required now.

Cannot and should not be a current club CEO or other officer..too much potential for conflict of interest..must be a genuine independent, experienced large corporation CEO and must have a genuine love for the game.

This Gallop wankfest on The Back Page just doesn't make sense. He didn't stand up for the sport, he had no vision for the future and was a weak leader.

They just referred to him as proactive for f**k sake!

His legacy will always be overseeing a terrible tv rights deal and being a news ltd lackey.

I thought it was odd when they appointed Greenhill Caliburn to help with the TV rights but looking back now it appears they were just setting up for pulling the trigger on Gallop.

Totally expected on a News Limited show.

The News LTD crew have been backing Gallop for a long time now.

They aint about to stop.

Hopefully there aren't any more ex superleague lawyers, with no interest in rugby league football waiting in the wings.

Well David, can't say I'm upset that you're going.

You never stood up to News or Channel 9 and for that alone, you should be eternally ashamed.

And to those imbeciles who think that Demetriou should be poached, if he was the new CEO of the NRL the next two expansion teams will be Fitzroy and Goulburn.

Demetriou is fundamentally an AFL man with nous, we don't need [and won't get] him but we need the best person for the job that fundamentally cares about our game not a careerist replica of dangerous Dave.
