That’s right, plus if Host did come off for a spell he could have been there ready to fill in the centre’s if need be. I can’t see any of the other guys in Merrin, Lawrie, Vaughan etc going there. Hopefully once we get Ford and Tyrell back they can kill two birds with one stone as they can both play centre and back row. For mine though Host has cemented his spot. He will push one of Ford, Tyrell or Mez out.
I'd say, Merrin is last in line at back-row. He will be a backup for prop if he makes it onto the bench. Ford and Tyrell to be above Host in the pecking order for back-row.

None of these 3 are a substitute for Frizell.

I have been impressed Host last 2 weeks with more game time

Dean young looks all class and will be a Great coach But I hope an experienced coach is signed and dean young gets a few years as an assistant
He may turn out to be a good coach , and yes he does talk well , and his heart will always be with the Dragons ..... But as a club that has had 6 years of crap from a also passionate ex player , they can't take that chance again ( just my take on it ) ..... And Dean is putting pressure on him self before he starts ..... He is F**KED if he does and he is F**KED if he doesn't ..... I wish we had not been so stuffed by the previous coach , because I might have been happy to see how he does ......

I think you and I should apply as coaches package deal , Crownies all around once a week with the board , paint the dressing rooms out every couple of years , don't have to be able to coach really , just have to be good blokes ..... Yea I think that should get us over the line ....:)

His bench rotation was reading a game and not making changes for the sake of it.
What he didn't read the game in noticing Lawrie's lack of agility to get up & mark up in the play the ball, cost 2 try's in this game alone. I think Simms has a little more agility to get to his feet, after making a tackle & lateral defence then Lawrie & should have been used earlier.

Just watched the replay. His bench rotation was horrid. 1 interchange forward getting zero minutes and the other getting 9mins... Look forward to a lot of player injury and burnout.

Agree
But I did think a mitigating factor might have been that he wanted to see if he could get 80min out of Hosty?

It’s hard not to be impressed with Dean Young when he is interviewed. On Fox NRL 360 tonight the comparison with him & the previous head coach’s dribble is enormous. He once again said he was looking for consistency & effort from the side, explained he thought he was ready for the top job based on what he has learned from the people the has worked with since retiring including Bennett. He did say he had the final say in the sides selection after discussions with Flanagan & Shepherd which would really piss the former coach off LOL. Certainly bleeds red & white !

If Young wants to win fans over he can start by speaking out about the double standards in our judiciary. The reason the NRL go light on clubs like the Storm is because they don't want to upset outspoken individuals like Bellamy and Smith. Young has great passion for the red and white and I hope he makes a fuss about it. Surprised we just bent over and accepted the ban but probably smart.

Young may be a breath of fresh air at the presser, on NRL 360 and bleeds red n white but imo hes far from ready to be given the Head coaching role.....it will be a case of jobs for the boys again......theres only one way we are going to be a major force again and thats with an outside experienced coach and an influx of a few good players to our roster

I love Deano and him kissing the dragons badge in the 2010 gf after scoring a try late in the game before being mobbed by the whole team will live with me till the day I die but if he’s the next head coach the shit show will carry on for a few more years. I really hope someone like a Bennett, Wane, Bellamy etc comes in for the next 3-4 years and he learns from them before he takes over in say 2024/2025

The pic of Dean and Albert embracing brings tears to my eyes.

He is st George more than St George Illawarra. But I don’t want him to fail so I would think the best thing for the club now at this point is to appoint a coach with runs on the board Like some big hundreds with Dean as assistant

No way in hell will they go down the same path as McGregor. I think the board is about to right all the wrongs of the forgotten years. Well I’m trying to forget the nightmare of McGregor

If Dean gets the job in 2021 it will bring tears to my eyes
