I am no graphic designer.

As for Clutching at Straws the whole Logo line was an attack on fitzy and that seems to have been effectively rebuffed.

Has it?

I know you have pointed out Fitzy had the design of it changed, from one type of eel logo to another, but I'm sure he is on the record of not liking the 'eels' as a nickname, and subsequently as a logo, in genera?

You mentioned the 'Cumberland Patriots' before.

Now, for some reason, Fitzy and 'Parramatta Patriots' is in my memory bank...

Yes it does, without it there are no ratings or crowds.
No,It is the world class venues ,the great television coverage and the efficient ticketing that does that.
I think we have oddles of threads on this forum that would support this theory.

If it was up to Fitzy, he would remove the Eel. The token effort that he did return it to some new modern version (whis is better then the other cartoon one) does not wash with me.

He has had the chance, Any one who know the club structure knows he has had the chance.

Exactly. The Eel stays. The sooner everyone realises that the better. The fact that our CEO publicly ridicules it is a disgrace. The problem is that he just cannot shut the F*ck up.

Yes he has said it is a poor seller in relation to other logos like tigers and others.

The Patriots was an Idea of his, I am just using it as an example to get away from Both the Eels or Tigers names to create a new Entity, he also said RAMS but that has been taken.

I sent a letter similar to what is produced below to the ARL and NSWRL in late 1996. Obviously some things have come to pass and other will never but in my view, a way to have a TRULY National Rugby League competition:

14 Teams split into 2 divisions/Groups as follows:
Group 1
Sydney Central
Sydney North
Hunter
Brisbane North
Gold Coast
North Queensland
Western Australia

Group 2:
Melbourne
ACT
South Australia
Sydney West
Sydney South
Central Coast
Brisbane Central

No existing clubs can purchase licences, hence no tribal loyalty issues or merger scenarios. All new clubs. New logos, names and jersey colours.

Each team plays the others in their group twice and the other group once.
19 rounds + 3 rep weekends + 3 finals = 25 weeks (i.e winter).
Finals are Intra divisional (top-3 with week off to the minor premier for each group) and then finalist from each division play off for overall championship.

The killer for some:
Fixed salaries based on Years of Grade and rep status with additional win bonuses.
Eg.
First Year in Grade $50k base + $1000 per win
2nd Year in Grade $60k base + $1000 per win
etc.
SoO Bonus $15k per game.
Test Bonus $20k per game.
Captain bonus $10k-20k per annum
10 years at one club $50k per annum top up

There was heaps more to the letter and i gave examples of $ per player etc, but cant be assed doing it all again now.
