My personal take on the whole thing is..
Thing change in life and there is nothing you can do about it, Des is and will always be a club legend for what he has done for the eagles. I believe that Ego's on both sides of the fence have got in the way here and the end result is a nothing less than a disaster.
BUT.. as I said thing change, who would have thought that Bennett would have ever left Brisbane, but he didn't like the direction of the board at that time and left for a new challenge, Des has done the same thing, Gotta respect a man who stands by his convictions.
We have had an amazing 5 years as a supporters group 3 GF's and 2 Premierships a WCC, and arguably the best side over the last 5 years, Had out time at the top, and we may have to have a down period for a while. For the great ride I have had this year I would thank Hasler tomorrow given the chance.
Hopefully Penn keeps true to his word and the current Adminstration structure gets a much needed overhaul, maybe just maybe Des's sevistating decision may end up with a silver lining.
If they can come to terms with appointing Toovey as Haslers replacement, they may win back some needed trust from the player group and keep most of the current squad, if Tooves end up as a good coach, and givrn he had a great footy brain and was a natural leader there is every chance he will, he has also had 5 years under Des as an assistant which will help.

It could be a lean couple of years as we rebuild our football support stucture, but pne thing is for cedrtain this very proud club will rise again whether it be 2 years or 5 years they will be up there again.....
And for all the people on here sticking the boot into the eagles and there supporters, have a little look at the last 5 years of your club, and tell me if you would swap it for the 5 years that we have just enjoyed????
Thanks DEssie & Go the EAGLES!!!!!!! for now and forever

Well put ;-)

Mate im not a member of anything, just like to talk footy with a few people on here with some common sense.
And im not whinging at all, I said I find it funny that some bulldogs supprters wanted hasler kicked out for challenging the NRL and defending his club and players, now that he has jumped ship it seems you lo think he is an angel sent straight from heaven to the bulldogs........

LOL  My bad, I thought you were Berkely Eagle, sorry about that.

lol if you're willing to generalise that all CBB supporters thought he was a whinger, then I can generalise that all of your supporters are laying the boot into him now because he is leaving.

FTR he is a whinger, but I don't mind whinging in the press conferences especially when your team was hard done by with that grid iron pass from Parra couple of years back; but I still LOL at the fact that he said "brett needs to cleanse his soul"(or something like that). lol.

What is going on at Manly? Getting rid of auch a great coach? I am lost for words about Des going to the Bulldogs...they are pushing for Geoff Toovey to coach next year now...but Id make Des stay for 2012....that's what the Bulldogs want..to create the tension for Manly to release him early. Make the Dirty Dogs suffer for another year. (Regardless and sadly, Manly will do a Dragon's next year knowing their number one coach has departed).

Manly is still clearly way ahead of the rest in Minor Premierships which is all that matters to me but Des will have to prove himself out of his comfort zone.

He will need kevlar underwear in his new precinct in case of the odd stray bullet and the 'natives', for lack of a better word, are not as forgiving

This must suck for Manly supporters, having the guts ripped out of your club days after winning a premiership.

This isn't confirmed at all.

never said it is, after all it isn't on twitter, however it is what was said. although i did see on news that manly are going to hold a meeting and vote, apperently some powerful board members want to limit the damage now.

Sacking Des does not limit the damage, if we sack him that will activate the get out clause in several players contracts. The only way to minimise the damage is to sack the board.

This sack him activating clause crap is spread by manly fans which is absolute bull. The clause is if Des ISN'T coach.

Doesn't matter how, this is how manly fans have been spinning it to clinch onto some hope they wont lose anyone. It's all alot of crap.

Des isn't the coach the clauses is activated. Straight forward.

What?

It was confirmed on the radio by one of the player managers, I'm not spinning any crap to clinch onto hope. It sounds like you are the one who is clinching to the hope that the Manly players come over to the Dogs.

LOL absolute bullshit its been spread on forums by manly fans. Everyone knows the clause is purely if des isn't coach. Matty Johns said the other day that 3 people are wanting to following him straight away if hes released or in 2013 and that there has been multiple times said that if des isn't coach 5 people have clauses. Think for one second. Who thinks Des would be sacked? Who would put them as clauses? More likely Des would leave then Des will be sacked. Use your brain for once instead of twitter. Dream all you want. However facts are facts.

Interesting week ahead do manly boot him or not. the vote shall decide.

Let me know any more inside info u get off twitter LOL.

You believe twitter, let me guess you heard a play manager said this from your manly forums. As i said its been widely said even by the likes of Matty Johns. Stop dreaming and face reality mate.

I could care less about 5 players from manly. The only 1 i'd love us to sign is Foran and he is one with the clause either way. Robertson would of been great but gone, hoppa to but gone, and watmough and lyon are great players but doubt they will leave manly either way and watmough we dont really need.

I hope we get Des asap however i dont live in dream land i just go by facts. Fact is Des is signed for 2013, players have clauses that can break there contract if Des isn't coach and one is Foran. 3 want to follow Des already and hopefully he is one!

Holding onto Des will be a waste for Manly this year, and the board apperently are likely to let him go and it will most likely be all decided this week one way or another. Guess if they do you will most likely blow up and say THE CLAUSES WERE WRONG ON TWITTER!

Why the f**k do you keep shitting on about twitter?

I heard this with my own ears on talkinsport, from Graham Lowe and one of the player managers at Manly.

Mathew Johns said that If Des is sacked by the board 3 players are prepared to walk with him, he said nothing else.

Ok, I'm done with you. Bye.
