With Des leaving Manly and going to Canterbury, for me you can write off both teams for next years comp

Didn't stop you from purchasing the greedy ballhog Kris Keating did it. Keating could be the worst 5/8 in the competition of 2012, definitely below the international you let go to the Eels.

LOL! Ben roberts has been HORRIBLE for the past coupe years, did u see him at all? even in the nsw cup he was horrible.

I will not miss him at all he is one of those players that with an experienced half (noddy) and a good frame of mind he can have a cracker of a game, once ever 6 months. then can be solid for a bit. but sooner or later he falls back to the same ben roberts we all know. far from something to be upset about losing.

keating is a dud, no doubt. however hes off contract next year and less then 70% of what roberts was eating up in nsw cup.

also as someone said thats moores choice, i look forward to dessies ;)

To be honest he had been hampered by injury and it was Moores choice to pick Keating ahead of Roberts. In 2009 Roberts was sensational and his absence has been a big reason for the drop in the teams performance. Sure he is a confidence player so you drop him and stick in the NSW cup and he will struggle. Give him faith and a good forward pack and he will shine.

Firstly, I feel for Manly fans. So soon after the premiership glory to have all this happen is unfair. But it seems some first class morons are running that club.

If the problem is he's a control freak and he apparently wasn't given enough control...that's f**king ridiculous. At worst he's in the top 3 coaches in the game, and he's arguable the #1 of those 3. If you have a coach like that, you give him all the f**king power he wants. I reckon Manly should change their board at the first opportunity.

Secondly, I don't understand the criticism towards Canterbury. Any club would have gone after him given the oppurtunity. And as for the timing, we like to think of this as a professional comp. Well if it's professional, then they don't owe anyone anything and have the right to go after anyone they want whenever they want.

Well done to Canterbury for getting a coach of Hasler's quality. And heads need to roll among the higher ups at Manly.

tbf, I wouldn't with Ben Roberts on my worst enemy. For all his flaws, I would take Keating twice over over Ben Roberts.

Ben Roberts will have 2 fantastic games a year and will ingle handedly throw away between 4-5 games a year whilst not being outstanding in the rest

Both of them ...

Manly need to bring in Toovey straight away.

Des, thanks for the past 7 years, but it's time to f**k off.

what they should do, yes. Hasler isnt part of Manly's strategic future anymore. no point persisting with it.

problem for Manly is paying out his contract. manly havent got the luxury to throw funds at nothing. unless Canterbury buy it out, they're bent over a barrel and about to be reamed - no lube.

So he took less lol! Sinking ship or what?

As for "my mates at the kennel" im not a member there its full of idiots, i do check it out now and then though and see you've been embarrased on there more then anyone else.

People are showing threads about releases etc and ur who says ull get anyone LOL. Des wont leave DES RE-SIGNED TILL 2015. lol. classic.

Man, you're pathetic. Its upsetting that our coach is leaving but how upset could Ceagle possibly be? We just won the Premiership! Your club ran I don't know and I don't give a f**k because you weren't in the finals. Let's keep this in perspective. Manly have just won a Premiership, the doggiesbrah have just signed a Premiership winning coach that they won't get until 2013. I wonder which is better? I feel the saying 'a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush comes to hand' applies well enough here. I prefer to have the Premiership now then the chance of Premierships in the future.

I know its crazy what the Manly board did, right? Its as you say. You have, at absolute worst, the 3rd best coach in the game with daylight behind him in 4th. Even if you could categorically say he is not better than Bellamy and Bennet you still sign him up the second he agrees because he is the 3rd best coach in the game ffs!

I don't have a problem with the doggiesbrah as long as people treat the club as they are and have treated Manly in the past. The signed two full teams over three years, and have now poached a high profile coach. All I ever hear is Silvertails this and that, and the doggiesbrah are doing that shit now.

it's factioned up there. delmege spent $15m and got out. penn family putting the broom through the place, getting rid of anyone with persuasion and influence outside their inner sanctum and stacking the joint with their own allies.

the Penn family and the current executive probably want to control the place.

canterbury havent acted unethically at all. if they approached Hasler, well they've done so shrewdly and come up trumps. hasler in effect was head hunted. their actions are those they believe will shore up their long-term future. they have not signed him for 2012, theyve signed him for 2013 when his services are available. great work.

on the other hand, even if hasler didnt approach the dogs and offer his services while still having commitments to manly, then his behaviour is less justified, just like bennett. if these blokes have a shred of ethical fibre, they wouldve made the decision on new clubs at the end of their current terms. like bennett with st george, hasler will not have manly as his sole focus from here on in. despite his official commitments beginning in 2013, he'll be working for canterbury unofficially on roster management and other long-term football dept issues from here on in. his relationship with and role at manly will now be limited now as he will not be considered in the longer-term strategic decisions at manly anymore. he'll essentially be paid to run training sessions, like an assistant coach effectively. other personnel will take over the role of making decisions on how players will be managed for the long-term benefit of manly and he will totally lose the control he supposedly craves. the situation will become untenable and he'll be gone.

the honourable thing for him to do is seek a release from his contract without pay. manly would be idiots of the highest order to keep him even if he does end up going to straight to canterbury for next season. either way, he doesnt want to be at manly.

LOL, mate he was horrible in nsw cup and in nrl when he was given the chance, BAR 2009 he was a dud. the only reason he looked quality in 2009 is he had kimmorley running the show all he had to do is run out wide and connect with morris (which he did well) kimmorley also had ennis playing unreal helping him and an unreal forward pack.

eels have a far from a kimmorley type halfback in sandow a dud hooker and a average forward pack. not at all going to help him.

Whilst this seems terrible now Des's decision is for the best. It will force change at board level which has been required for sometime.
