Been playing for about an hour or so and it's been pretty good so far. But I don't really have a basis for comparison as im new to this genre.
Its doing pretty good on that front actually. It had packed event centres (not 100k, but whatever the capacity is for them). But it gets 100k concurrent viewers on stream for its events, and in all aspects its growing. On top of that there have been developments that will boost it even further on top of the already present growth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adNMS1DFSBA&feature=plcp
Its hardly been a disappointment, in any regard.
Blizzard Community Manager Bashiok has told excited fans to lower their expectations for Diablo 3.
In a post on the battle.net forums, Bashiok said:
I too worry that we wont be able to meet the expectations people have built up for themselves. Part of my job is managing peoples expectations, so eh stop it. Stop thinking about how awesome this game could be. Just imagine its a new M. Night Shyamalan movie. Sure Sixth Sense was amazing and Unbreakable had its moments, but this right here is the sequel to The Village or The Happening or Signs or any of the movies besides the two I first mentioned.
After Diablo 2′s tremendous success and given a large crowd has been playing this game for a decade its no surprise that expectations for Diablo 3 are stratospheric. No game could possibly live up to the expectations that some diehard fans have built up.
Bashiok concluded by telling us to lower our expectations for Diablo 3:
So just like, lower those expectations, but still definitely buy the game please, and everything will be just fine. K?
JM, a better graphics card wont make your ping any better. I think its just flooded at the moment it should drop down
I think you might be underestimating the expectations Activision had for the game. They're shooting for WoW levels of profit now, and it didn't get to the level of it's predecessor (which is making other companies very rich). I guess we're not likely to find out how they see it though.
I must admit I might be a bit biased as I thought SC2 was disappointing from a creative perspective.
This dude already finished lmao I haven't even bought it yet

I just have to disagree. They are two different models. They make money from WOW due to its monthly subscriptions and I believe they have a store where you can buy things like pets, items, horses or whatever ect? SC2 is a one off purchase so they are not expecting to make that kind of money in the short-term.
Its only two years old, which, believe it or not, is still short-term for SC2. SC2 is geared for the long-term, hence the two planned expansions announced before the game was even released. SCBW is more than 10 years old and was still a thriving esport in Korea, and until recent developments was still the dominant 'code' there over SC2. Its a long-term game. SC2 was geared towards bringing that mentality and sucess to western countries, growing esports, and so far its doing its job, with all signs pointing towards further growth.
It may not be as profitable as WOW now but I do think you might be a bit biased, as you said, if you are writing it off because its not there yet despite it being well on its way to achieving what it set out to do.
