i get 280-300 ping in non-peak (US) time. the absolute worst i've seen thus far is around 530 .

having said that, there is no excuse for Blizzard to not provide an Aussie hosted server. it could serve a lot more than just Australia, and cost isn't the issue that they make it out to be, either. sure, it will cost more than nothing, but it won't make it unprofitable for them or anything.

yeah, as an ex-wow player i'm well aware of the situation. i'm just saying they don't have any valid excuses aside from a fatter profit margin. many aussie ISPs have offered to help them in an effort to bring servers here, they could get great mates rates by going in partnership with one of them for sure. hopefully they will eventually alienate the aussie fanbase enough that it will force a change, but i doubt it. we'll keep buying their shit, even if it is gimped.

By the by, the issues I was experiencing were all due to the graphics card. The game is playing fine now, even at 200-300ms ping.

Thats some bullshit. Not as bad as all night on Tuesday, but with Tuesday gone, Wednesday night gone for origin, and limited hours tonight and on Monday due to MNF its been a slow week for D3 for me. Whats going on, why these constant maintenances ffs

So ive got a 60 wiz and working on a monk. Have cleared act 1 inferno but imo its simply not fun. The loot drops are horrendous and so it becomes a game of grinding gold to buy what you want from the AH. The whole game seems to be setup for people to use the RMAH so blizz can rake in more $$

I do enjoy the leveling process though and will probably get all classes to 60 eventually

Sweet. Yeah i rerolled monk and am in act 3 inferno, its away more fun than the wiz albeit bloody expensive to gear up.

Got a refund from Blizzard, waiting for Torchlight 2 instead. Connection issues were horrendous for me and made the game an experience in frustration, might have had some fun with it if they had some sort of offline mode.
