Do we actually need a Mongrel Prop?

What about that young prop from the dogs,David Klemmer? i think his name is.I don't know whats happened to him but he is a talent.

Klemer signed a million dollar three year contract. The Dogs thought it was one year too early to throw him in. He was found wanting. Next year will be different. Kasiano, Graham, Tolman, Klemmer will be a fearsome prop rotation in 2014. But yes. That is the style of player we need. There just aren't any off contract in Australia.

Instead of looking for the elusive mongrel prop lets turn some of ours into mongrels...How do we do this....Answer: tell them if they don't start turning nasty the clubs going to extend Prices contract

Why can't Craig Young take Seru aside and give him personal mongrel training. He could do the same with Wakeman and maybe we would have the props we need.

Wasn't found wanting, he injured his knee and isn't due back until round 23. Won't see him in top grade this year again though.

Hopefully for you Dragons, that English guy you signed can add something to your pack. ESL watchers don't seem to rate him though

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I heard that we might be looking at Eorl Crabtree from Huddersfield.

Tonight's game was a perfect example of the team no having that big forward to keep the momentum of runs by the back 3 or crash over when inside the opponents 10m area. I've written about it elsewhere, there's a massive difference between effort & mental toughness. Andrew Fifita has been the best prop this year & is exactly the type of player the Dragons need. ( plus he's going to improve & will be a force for over 5 years )

It's not just what the leaders of a pack do, it's the flow on effect for team mates & also the impact on opponents who don't want to run as hard at them or drop their head when they know they're being outplayed in those crucial moments that ultimately decide a game.

The 2010 side had guys like Jeremy Smith, Neville Costigan & Beau Scott in it who were ideal players when fighting out those close games. They would inspire their team mates with a big play & the rest of the term would lift with them. The side of that year in particular were renowned for being consistently better than other teams in those tough clashes that needed extra effort with the ball & in defence. It's about sending a message to the opposition & saying we want it more than you do.

You guys are pretty close to securing Matt Groat, he will develop into a good prop down the road, should peak at the same time as de Belin and Stockwell. Will be a handy front row in years to come.

We need some seasoned hard merkins not potential players that we have lots of and always buy.

Matt Groat is seriously rubbish, talk about scraping the bottom of the barrell.

Add J Saffy to that list. He was a massive loss. Great defender and ran hard. Quick play the balls.
