Do we keep Sandow?

I've never been too down on Sandow, even when he's been pretty average - I've always seen something in him that our team needs - a bit of spark

but last night pissed me off

that first try they scored - he was not even in the same postcode as the kick
.... it was actually a very good kick and I doubt any fullback would have stopped the try, but you could have at least been closer to having a go at stopping it - there was clear laziness and lack of interest there

and why the f**k would you be lazy? you get the chance to come back into NRL and prove your worth - surely you'd been keen as - he played like he was keen as last week for wenty

I dunno, maybe there is shit going on behind the scenes???

I'm the same. But how many halfbacks would go well at fullback? I'd imagine Cronk, DCE, Thurston would all have similar issues with positioning and fielding kicks. He aint no fullback.

well apparently he played some fullback in his young days, so he should have a headstart on most

i don't mind bad positioning - but he deadset just jogged across as the ball was spread and kicked .... the laziness and lack of effort was what irked me ... sure be out of position to start, cos you just don't know better, but then you'd bust your gut to try and make up for it ... he didn't

It's wasn't Sandow who picked himself at fullback, last week he wasn't good enough for his favourite position of halfback. But last night he was good enough in terrible conditions to play one of the most vital positions on the field in a wet weather game??? Honestly is Arthur all there upstairs????

Hoppa did the same thiing earlier in the year when a grubber was put in the in-goal. Out of position and jogged across. Didn't get anywhere near it and a try was conceded. And Hoppa played way more fullback in his younger days too.

We've tried a centre at fullback, a winger at fullback and now a halfback at fullback over 11 rounds. Who is next?

Michael Gordon.

Was it a terrible decision when we beat the Dogs at the same time of year last year?

There's a story going round that we couldn't play Faraimo for 2nd tier cap reasons.

Don't get me wrong, he's not my 1st choice fullback, but you don't like Reece playing there either.....so BA is damned is he does and damned if he doesn't.

Norman for the rest of the year might be best option TBH if we dont snare Gordon.
Than you either have sandow/Kelly in the halves or throw Matterson (who i dont think is first grade material) into the mix

Be interesting to see where he goes from here.

You would think that after last night's effort, he wont push Kelly out of the no 7 spot in the immediate future so where will he end up next week ?

I wouldn't think he will be fullback next game.

To be honest I thought Kelly was pretty good tonight. It's probably close to the best game I've seen him play in the NRL actually.

it was against a dogs side with no halves and a dry track, cook and T. rex were their halves from memory. Just because we got away with it once doesn't mean we should do it again. Pretty sure we played him at fullback against the Warriors last year and got pumped by 50. Arthur is looking more and more out of his depth by the day.

The only way Matterson gets a run is if he is definitely in the Top 25, of which under the current NRL system of not having to notify the public who the Top 25 is, there is no way to tell.

It easy to say lets put matterson in-But im not sure his skills are any better.
If we snare Gordon id stick with Kelly and Norman. If we do not i would consider Norman too fill in for the rest of the year. Than maybe think about Matterson more for development.Im not sure he is anywhere near ready thou from times i have seen him play.

I've got no idea on Matterson, I've not seen him play too much.

We really missed Hopoate last might. He would have been crucial to have in our backline.
Who would have thought that the Origin period would hurt us more than Souths.

Thanks Laurie.

So who would you have picked in our backline yesterday?

We're pretty short of troops.

So Sandow VS Norman, who partners Foran next year? For me, it's Norman. He doesn't have Sandow's kicking game or flashiness but plays a very controlled game, has an improving kicking game, a decent passing game, his defence is better and he has great hands. He also seems to have a calmer temperament.

So for me, Norman gets the nod.

What does everyone else think?
