Do we keep Sandow?

Sandow is one of the best front runners in the comp. If your team is on a roll or winning by 20 he'll be in everything. He'll be backing up half opportunities, running onto the ball, committing himself in defence , all will be good with the world.

When you're under the pump he is completely useless and ineffective. His defence becomes half hearted, he just catches the ball and shovels it on and kicks and hopes for 40/20s.

I wouldn't be keeping him. He fails to play the percentages when you need them and you genuinely don't know what commitment to defence you're going to get from him week to week.

When sitting down to decide whether to keep him I hope the powers that be watch yesterdays game v Warriors. The play that sums him up to me is when he missed a tackles leading to a break, the Warriors chipped over Hoppa who knocked over the kicker and Sandow got back to knock the ball dead. All well and good except he knocked it dead from the 3metre line in the field of play. Dive on the ball and cop the hit mate.

As for Hoppa his greatest strengths are his quick hands and power dummy half running. He'll give you his all and never be close to our worst on field. Lacks the speed to play fullback though. The sweeping fullback out the back move every team plays is disjointed with us because Hoppa doesn't have the speed to get there in time. Hoppa is a genuine centre/ winger not a fullback.

Yeah and with Hoppa 20 metres back up field Sandow dives on the ball, gets tackled and based on the new rules plays it quickly to.... there was no one else back there... the Warriors marker who scores.

Sometimes getting the ball out of play regardless is the best decision.

If Sandow had dived on the ball we wouldn't have had to drop it out. There's no rule that says you have to play it quickly.

He had to knock it back to get it in the ingoal before he had to knock it again. Crazy Shit :crazy::crazy:

That was the weakest thing i've seen on a footy field in a while. Worst case scenerio if no body was back because they're all getting onside , dive on it and fake that you're winded! Who cares, just don't knock the ball dead from in the field of play. That indicates a lack of willingness to get hit and a lack of thinking. Both are applicable here especially given his ZERO runs in 80 mins of footy. I don't think he's had a run since the tackle he got bent back in against Dogs.

I will be interested to see if Sandow is at Parra in 2016. Surely he's now worth more money to another Club than he is to Parra. I cannot imagine him staying at Parra for less than he can get elsewhere

Sharks may go hard for Sandow but having Barba and sandow in your front line is a worry..Barba back to fullback maybe?

Manly are the other team that will need a half.

I'm not sure where Sandow sits on the priority list for both of those sides though. Surely the Sharks couldn't put Barba and Sandow in the halves and keep a straight face?

Alot for mine depends on what happens with Hodgkinson, Maloney and Sezer first. Hodgo could just about command what he wants at both of those clubs.

I've changed my mind. I'd cut him loose.

Chris Sandow has played the best part of 150 NRL games for two different clubs and this is his 8th season in the NRL.

He is yet to play in 1 Final Series match.

He's previous club, South Sydney, made the Top 8 the year prior to him making his NRL debut and then made the Top 8 the next 3 seasons after he left.

Personally, I do not believe that Chris Sandow will ever play in an NRL Final Series.

After 8 seasons in the NRL, he still remains one of the Top 3 biggest liabilities in defence, is unable to pass from left to right and has shown no propensity to be able to deliver the right options inside the oppositions 20 metre area.

Wow mate, http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...e-game-after-family-loss-20150325-1m7g6v.html did this change it?

Let us look at the season so far: Sandow has played 3 games, one which he got injured and another one which he was still injured and had the death of a family member on his mind yet opted to play anyway. His first game this season was amazing. Let's stop pretending to be a member of the coaching staff until I dunno, we aren't in single digit rounds.

Chris Sandow has played the best part he still remains one of the Top 3 biggest liabilities in defence

Brb throwing up, his defence has dramatically improved when he hasn't been injured. I have been quite proud of his technique.

No, his defence dramatically improved when we won the forward battle. No different from the previous seven years of his career.

Agreed....put a decent pack in front of him and he will play accordingly, our packs have been soft over the years hence his performances, in sayin that I say keep him for a little more than his current contract, tho def don't break the bank.

I'd agree that his tackling has improved. That's why I said he is in the Top 3 biggest liabilities now, rather than the biggest liability.

There are times in the last two games where Sandow took the wrong option that killed any chance we had of winning.
Bulldogs-Chip and chase
NZ - something half way inbetween a bomb and a chip with 10mins to go that was easy for the winger to catch.I was bemused why he didn't put it up as high as he could!!!

Mate, one poor option in an 80 minute game doesn't kill your chance of winning unless you're down by six (or less) with seconds to go.

only way id be happy to keep him is if no one else offered him current value of his contract and we got him on unders as a backup.

I can see him heading to England though.
