There seems to be a bit of a storm brewing around Folau in that a number of senior Waratahs players have said that if he’s reinstated they don’t want to play along side of him, whilst a number of other union players are demanding his reinstatement on grounds that they’re Christian too.

Does anyone recall a few years back there were rumours out of an NRL club in Sydney - I can’t remember which - that a number of players were considering walking because there was a culture of intimidation by the Christian players who demanded they all pray together before the game regardless of personal belief?

I feel like if Folau wins reinstatement it could have pretty serious consequences for all footy codes in Australia.
Timbo, I know that you are recalling a situation that happened . . . but your example of the Christian players that demanded everyone pray together before the game regardless of personal belief.
Surely you see that this whole Folau situation is showing absolute zero regard for his personal belief ?
At least in that example the Christians only "demanded" it.
It's not like they sacked the players that didn't pray.

There is a reason he surrounded himself with men and is depicted as being very effeminate in the art works I suspect.

Issy is a sinner with his tattoos and shaved sides of hair, he has no place back in the righteous code.

No, this situation has shown substantial regard for his personal belief except in situations where he has expressed a hateful and bigoted opinion towards others because of that belief.

Please don’t pull the ‘Christian’s are the most persecuted group’ crap. It’s completely disingenuous.

FFS

How is it that people STILL don't understand that he was sacked not because of his beliefs, but because he chose to express them in a way that breached the conditions of his contract of employment???

The bloke doesn't deserve all this attention, he's a f**kwit.

Actually BAz I think you'll find the reason it has dragged on so long is it didnt explicitly breach the conditions of his contract. At the last hearing it was revealed that after the last time he did sometihng like this on social media, RA went back to him and said " we want to renegotiate your contract to include clauses about your use of social media". To which Izzy replied...."How 'bout No?". and that is where it was left. RA have no clauses in his contract regarding social media use.

Ok then, question.

Have you ever seen a contract that disavowed the contracted person of the contracting organisation's Code of Conduct?

Whether or not he has explicit clauses in his contract, he must still abide by his employers code of conduct or they can, rightfully, terminate his employment.

Anyway surely this is done to death

I am totally unaware of RA's Code of Conduct but I'd suggest that if it was clear cut, it would be over by now and its not.

You post said that Izzy is in breach of the conditions of HIS contract. Based on his last hearing and the length of time its taking, it appears that that is not correct.

In other words you have no idea what you are talking about. What is clear is he will never play for the Waratahs or wallabies again. But let’s face it he’s only interested in the 4 million dollars so he doesn’t really care. RA made a huge mistake putting him on such a long big contract. He got the deal then he deliberately set out to break it.

Israel Folau is a great player. If he played full back or centre he could carve up the NRL. He would be a force in Origin and attract lots of union viewers to his club and Origin games.

But a further bonus to having Israel Folau back in the NRL is that his departure would screw the Waratahs, the Wallabies, and interest in rugby union in Australia.

The Wallabies will be a better side without Folau. He's a winger, K Beale is a better all-round fullback than Folau.

RA have no clauses in his contract regarding social media use.
He's been sanctioned under the RA Code of Conduct which can be downloaded here: https://www.rugbyau.com/about/codes-and-policies/all-codes-and-policies

It's cut and dried he's violated point 1.3, and arguable that he's violated 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8.

The "only reason this has dragged on so long" is because like anybody, he took up his right to challenge/appeal their decision and RA has to hold such hearings to allow him to so appeal.
