With Fitzgibon now leaving the Roosters, do you reckon Robinson is likely to leave Bondi? .... I thought it was likely if they had a ready made replacement, but now I'm not sure there'd be much chance of him leaving .... Uncle Nick won't let himBA should stay as long as we get to the preliminary final and even if he fails again I’d be reluctant to sack him because it’s obvious that we have a happy camp which may implode if we bone him too early.
He can’t however stay forever and I think we should reassess by mid next year.
If we were to sack him I’d only go for a coach with recent and relevant NRL experience. Flanagan is the obvious choice but I’ve heard mixed reviews of him. I know plenty that just can’t cop him.
The coach that I think needs a fresh start who would bring new ideas is Trent Robinson. I’d be looking at him seriously as I reckon he would be one coach that would entice most of our players coming off contract at the same time as BA to play for him. I’m talking about players like Gutherson, Paulo, Matterson and the two Browns. Possibly even Moses.
Robinson is also a coach that doesn’t suffer fools and will tap someone on the shoulder who is not in his long term plans and would be able to attract some key new signings.

The only realistic option should we shit the bed stage appears to be Flanno. We aren’t exactly flushed with great options. No point changing if it isn’t an improvement.
when are those years going to happen? ... they are still a highly competative side atm even with a bunch of injuriesNot if there a couple lean years..
No. Shit the bed would be missing the 8 or scraping into the bottom of the 8 and getting arse pounded in the first week.So elaborate on what’s shit the bed. Would a top 4 finish with two semi final losses be deemed as shit the bed?
Who's they dopey? That's cause they are a champion team run by successful men. A failure to them is not winning a premiership or making the gf every 3-4 years. Unlike our dopey club that is satisfied with just making the 8 and handing out contract extensions.
Depends on whether we're favorites in both semi finalsSo elaborate on what’s shit the bed. Would a top 4 finish with two semi final losses be deemed as shit the bed?
What if we are favourites on SportsBet but outsiders on Footy Tab?Depends on whether we're favorites in both semi finals

No. You are acting like the outsider SHOULD win and are being provided with some perspective. You guys make out a non favorite can’t win.
They just shouldn't be expected to. If they don't it's certainly got f**k all to do with the coach. You guys make out a non favorite can’t win.
I would also expect a team to be doing better than 1 from 6, but six games isn't statistically significant. Half of them were away against the Storm ffsA better way to look at it would be to examine all the finals games and the odds and work out how many of them we should expect to win, not simply how many we were favourites in. I'd say at this point under BA we're below expectation but not by much.
Yeah I'd guess 2 from 6 would be much closer to the true expectation but of course it's a tiny sample size. However that's how coaching appointments are made and if we go 1-6 or 1-7 it won't be looking too good for BA.I would also expect a team to be doing better than 1 from 6, but six games isn't statistically significant. Here you go. Good stuff. Given the combined payout on us winning is $19.74 and on our opposition is $10.85, then 2 from 6 is the real expectation. But it would be cool to see some math wiz get the detailed numbers. Here you go. Odds below with winning teams bolded.
2020 v Souths - Eels $3.75 Souths $1.29
2020 v Melbourne - Eels $5.00 Melbourne $1.18
2019 v Melbourne - Eels $3.12 Melbourne $1.35
2019 v Broncos - Eels $1.52 Broncos $2.60
2017 v Cowboys - Eels $1.26 Cowboys $3.25
2017 v Melbourne - Eels $5.10 Storm $1.18
From what I can see the Cowboys game in 2017 is the biggest disappointment. To illustrate this I have coloured it 'shit brown'. We should have won that one but we played like mincers. The only other game we were expected to win, we won (convincingly).
Based on the stats, I'd agree with your assessment. Keep up the good work, merkin.
