Would you say he's clueless in being able to get us to the next level then?

Yes, so far he has proven he is not up for that, but that wasn't what he was referring to.

I am happy to move on from him but there has to be some rational discussion and not just f**king ridiculous statements given where we were and where we are since everything came to a head in 2016.

We've had clueless coaches before, i don't think BA is useless but he has served his purpose and he will leave the place in a much, much better place than he found it.

He is stubborn though and his limitation is in the style he wants to play, without realising that effort alone won't win you games, there has to be an x factor somewhere in there too, we don't have one and he doesn't seem interested in one either but maybe no one is available either i guess.

To you and that's fine and it is also true at a very simplistic level but we do invest a lot of time and passion into it too

and we at League Unlimited don't ?

I'd say we invest a lot more time than you do, but then again, its not a competition

I think BA has been a great coach, but I think he has always had limitations. I never thought he would likely be the coach who would take us to a Premiership, and not a lot has happened since he has been here to change my mind on that.

We're at a stage now where we need fresh ideas to go to the next level. That won't happen under the current group of coaches.

I thank him for getting us here but the aim is to win it and if he can't we should try another way to do it.
I'm not even sure he got us here. Recruitment/retention is a whole-of-club effort, not the sole responsibility of the coach. For this reason I think we'll be fine if Arthur is replaced by coach of similar quality (there are plenty of them). I just don't think a different coach will improve our performance on the field. We need better players.
Fourth is nice if you are the Wests Tigers but not if you are the Parramatta Eels and you haven't won one for 35 years.
Just making the finals is 'nice' for a club like Wests. They are a bottom tier club. We should make the finals most years and sneak into the top four sometimes. But until we can improve our ability to recruit/retain without being the highest bidder we won't have a roster to match the rich clubs. We'll be hoping to catch them in the finals on an off day or not at all.

It's no coincidence that we've been waiting so long to win another comp. It's not like the people in charge (who keep changing every few years) can't identify the best coaches and players. They just don't want to come here unless they're paid top dollar. Better facilities and so on are a start. We are getting there, but it's a matter of improving our purchasing power in the rugby league labour market. Brad Arthur (and all the coaches before him) isn't the cause, he's a symptom.

We need a better coach mate. Do you think someone like Flanagan or Bennett would leave Will Smith as an edge second rower when Moses came back on? Yet he kept someone like Cartwight on the bench until the second half. The guy's bench rotations are an abomination and I can't wait to see the back of him.

My son and I thought for sure either Mahoney or Moses were off the field but when we saw them both there we both said, instabtly WTF Will Smith still doing there?

How do people see us winning a peremiership?

If we get a new coach, do you believe he can do it with the current squad?

If we keep the coach, I don't see us winning with the current squad ..... we have a solid squad - a top 8 kind of squad - but there is no way we have the same personel as Melbourne, Manly, Penrith

I guess the question is where are we gonna make squad changes to give us a better chance? - even with a new coach

Manly gets some solid wraps for a team dependant largely on 1 player. I don’t think their team is better than ours, they just have a superstar amongst it.

I thought Will was playing in the middle ..... not that thats any better - but we had lost a middle the first tackle of the game, so I assumed it was a chance to rest a middle and see if we could get a spark (like manly do with walker)

they have Turbo - and DCE is probably one of the top halves in the NRL .... Jake is top quality middle with big minutes in him ..... Tapau can be good impact on his day

I think we overrate our squad

Wasn't he playing in the middle? Plenty of teams use a small middle forward. It creates a mismatch against slower defenders, and in defence it adds some mobility.

I’ve tried to ask this question a few times but most people end up accusing me of spraying my load on BA’s bald head.

I hope someone answers this one day as it is fundamental.

If I were coach - I would have personally moved Papa to the middle and given Carty a go on the edge when 121,000 sq Miles got injured ........ but then I would have done that from the kick off

Will Smith defends fairly well ... I don't think he is as small as people think he is and he is not scared to put his body into it .... so I reckon he carried himself OK when he had to play middle .... but it wasn't ideal

Want BA to succeed as do most people , think that sometimes an eagerness to succeed can blind an individual to whats needed.

Looks like when confronted with a problem some believe doing the same thing but working harder is the solution, when in fact a change of direction/strategy is required.

Not sure Flanagan is my top pick, but listening to him disect a game , and talk about solutions to playing issues has surprised me . See what the end of the season brings, but we need a review that comes up with a solution, and will be disappointing if the status quo assisting BA if he stays doesnt change.
