One question is, if you’re going to get rid of Arthur, is now a good time to do it? There are three open head coaching roles, and sacking him now (or coming to a mutual agreement) might mean he is given a good shot at getting another head coaching role (which I think is fair to him). But do you want to be coachless when there’s already a lack of quality first grade head coaches and, if you join Canterbury, Wests and Auckland, competition among a quarter of the competition for a new one?

What are the options though.

That is the condrumem.

I want BA gone but I can't name a suitable replacement atm.

O'Brien and Holbrook were talked up as some of the best assistant coaches coming through 3 years ago when they got there gigs and they are both on the cliff with 3 finger nails holding on while there respective clubs are a basketcase again.

Ciraldo probably is the best option but yet again is unproven and could end up like those two.

Flanagan has baggage is a premiership winner and would still be in a job if he didn't have the off field issues he caused in cronulla.

Freddy fittler is a space cadet and would have our players lose their toes being barefoot on the freezing cold grass every week.

Paul Green seems like another Michael Hagan won a Comp with a once in a generation player in JT.

Madge is damaged goods.

Anyone else I am missing that we could chase.

Tbh, I don't even care who replaces him.

If I performed as poorly at my job, as he does at his, I'd be out on my arse in no time.

Twice this season, he has overseen us lose to bottom clubs; I can stomach the loss to the Tigers, as it was at the death, but we deadset got smashed today, and it is not acceptable.

He did oversee us getting wins over Penrith, and Melbourne, though.

Displays like today's are just not acceptable.

If performances like today's were an outlier, I'd say give him the benefit of he doubt.

But we've been a Jekyll and Hyde team for his entire tenure, and enough is enough.

I do think that players with more experience will help turn that aspect around (which is why I think Hodgson joining us is good); but I just don't think BA can inspire the team any more.

One thing I find curious is that ultimately the majority our players individually generally improve year to year under the coaching staff. I don't think there is too much argument with that. The fact that we can't keep many of them for next season is testament that other clubs feels the same way about our players.

But as a team we've not really improved significantly at all since 2019. Our play on the field as a team is dreadful most of the time.

How do individuals improve, the overall quality of the squad improves, the skills and ability of the players improve, but the team does not show significant improvement as a result?

This has to be down to the inabilities of the coaching staff to develop those individuals to play better as a team. Playing better as a team is not down to the individuals, it's the responsibility of the coaching staff.

Everything good we do on the field is down to individuals and their brilliance. Nothing is due to great team work.

Fantastic post and i agree 100%, we are going far worse atm than we were in 2020 with a better squad. How can this not be on the coach and his staff???

Problem I see is we don't ever have a plan to target the opposition weaknesses. It's the same bash and barge game plan week in week out.

When was the last time we saw a play that targeted an opposition weakness and it worked.

Our attack is either off the cuff, same boring block play structures you see a mile away or mahoney trying the crash play close to the line.

Good coaches just don’t let shit heap teams put 34 on them and score 4 themselves.

it’s quite obvious he isn’t the answer, not to say under the right conditions he can’t win, but a coach that Just isn’t innovative enough to win or get consistently her the most of his players.

the issue is who do you approach. Parra need a hard arse as coach. Need Shane Flanagan

If we again miss the preliminary final would management have the kahunas to bone him?

Serious question.

For Those that live in QLD and watch the Q Cup.

What is it about the walker brothers coaching that is different to most sides.

Would it work in the NRL.

Changed my vote. In my opinion:
Premiership this year - names his price
GF appearance - sees out contract
Prelim appearance - “sees” out contract I.e. someone else gets signed for following season
Finals less than prelim - doesn’t see out contract. Club won’t bone him but whoever is assistant coach gets a run.
Failure to make finals - surely SURELY the club cuts it’s losses this year

If the coaching gig at Parra suddenly became available, it would change the entire coaching landscape immediately.
Haha yeah gun coaches have always been lining up to come to Parra. The biggest question is how we ever got Gibson. The absolute outlier of all Eels coaches. Who sold their soul to make that happen?
