Its annoying because we are close to being a great team given our last 4 seasons but we still fall short in a few areas. Thats on BA and the players.

Still beats losing most weeks but it means that games like Monday night are particularly difficult to take.

It's on Moses and Gutherson.
THEY control the side and on the huge coin. Those two need to be better. Along with our two props.
The rest play well when those guys do.

In the dogs game Moses needed to take the line on more. He was just shovelling it out.

And where was the change in angles like in the panfers game.

There were times if there was a pass back to someone running a change in angle line, they would've scored. The dogs defense wasn't that gr8. We just did stupid stuff

Same with dyl. Dyl seemed hesitant to take the line on until late in the Game. Maybe his ankle bothered him or the cheapshot from tpj hurt his ankle

I don’t “know” anything. Same as the rest of the dumb merkins on here. The coach is good enough to get us consistently there abouts. The gap between us and the elite is our program. Storm and Roosters have consistently spent a f**k ton more than us over the last 15 years and it shows in results.
Do you think the coach has the team playing to its potential? Last season we finished 6th and consequently had to play the Panthers in week 2 of the finals when we were a better team than Manly and the Roosters. This season we’re in danger of repeating that mistake by dropping games against the likes of the Tigers and Bulldogs. We’ve also had terrible attack in the 20m zone the last few seasons as well as mediocre goal line defence. That has nothing to do with the Roosters and Storm spending more money than us. That’s entirely on the coaching staff.

So did we get up for the Panthers and Storm because of the coach or is he just to blame for us not getting up for the weak teams? You need to put individual results aside and look at the season as a whole. The coach has more influence over 20 games than he does over one game.
If the team beats the likes of the Storm and Panthers then yes he deserves credit for that.
Because of how good we were in the nine years before the coach joined the club:

Win rate 2005-2013: 43% (7 coaches)
Win rate 2014-2022: 53% (1 coach)
I don’t know what you’re saying here. The club was on a downhill spiral from 2010-2013 but we were mostly strong between 2005-2007 so I’m not sure why you’re grouping 2005 with 2013.

Yep. The excuses keep coming.

first it was not enough experienced players. We now have 3 origin and 3 former origin players. Plus potential international players.

then I’ve recently heard it’s leaders. So all elite players and no leaders amongst them?

Now it’s resources.

I thought it was a comparison of the 9 years of BA with the 9 years previous to BA. It shows that we have improved with stability, but it isn’t a reason to keep BA.

My fear if we do change is that we get into a cycle of chopping and changing coaches again which hasn’t worked in the past. If we change, we need to make sure it’s a good change and stay patient with the new coach if it doesn’t result in instant success.

In fairness, all three of those factors have gotten plenty of air time over the years.

Also, your first and second point are arguably the same thing.

While our overall Win% is better between 2014-2022 then 2005-2013.

We did win 6 finals matches between 2005-2013 alongside 3 prelim appearances and a GF.

Compared to 2 finals wins from 2014-2022 and not made a prelim.

Depends how you want to look at it I suppose and what you would judge as more successful.

We did win multiple spoons in 2012 & 2013.

Before BA took over full time.

Brad Arthur had a much better roster than the coaches from 2010-13. You would hope he’d do better.

Last year’s ruck rules favoured teams with speed, which describes the Roosters and Manly more than it does us. That’s why there were so many blowouts. Coaching can’t make merkins faster ffs

Actually sprint coaching probably can, but that’s beside the point.

Because it’s a comparable amount of seasons/games.

No they aren’t. It was brought up that our players lacked experience. Many players have now played origin and finals. Now it’s we don’t have enough leaders. We’ve got a squad built that should be pushing any and every team week in week out. What’s holding them back?

One Origin game is closer to zero than it is to 20 or even 10. It’s not whether you’ve played in a big game, but how many. Obviously this sort of thing brings diminishing returns but the premiers usually have a lot of finals and Origin games throughout the team.
