Rothfield article on foxsports from 2017 suggests we were the 3rd best placed club financially.

Third best of all the clubs required to report their financials. But even then the rankings only tell part of the story (like ladder position). You need to look at more granular data (like points differential). In this case we have less than half the equity of the second richest club and a third of the wealthiest.

The grand final in 2017 becomes less significant than the near bottom of the table finishes in recent seasons. Aren’t you the one who acknowledges our grand final in 2009 was an anomaly rather than an indicator of our club going in the right direction? 2017 is exactly the same for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys fared badly in 2021 because as I said before coaches can have bad seasons as well. Case in point Brad Arthur in 2018. Payten obviously made some changes that are paying off for them now.
I don’t know what you mean by early to mid 2020 exposing us. We were 12-3 after 15 rounds. Then we dropped off a cliff and haven’t found it again except for a few brief flashes.

I would be surprised if you hadn't done a bit of it yourself. And Pou's defence of our attack has been more staunch than Avenger's support of BA.

We play good footy when we play Parra Ball. The thing is that Parra Ball does not show itself unless our forwards are really on top and we dominate in possession. Outside that we do struggle to score points. Compare us to Souths, Pennys, Storm; they almost always come away with points when they are in good field position.

Why wouldn't we be able to get a good defensive coach? Most coaches seem pretty defensive to me.

I don't think we've seen enough Parraball to say we're good at it under those circumstances but maybe. And yes, other teams score a lot more than us.

One regular in the last 3 years. Penisini and he is hardly a superstar. For all we know he ends up just an average player.
Look what Brisbanes unearthed this year or Cowboys. Cobbo, Tualgi etc. Where is our next star?
Unearthing a Haze Dunster isn't that exciting tbh. I've said this 1000x we need to fix the juniors. How I dont know. But something isn't right there.
