Yeah of course, but if it was that simple we would've done it over the past 35 years. There's a reason we haven't.
That’s part of the discourse. When you give people ample opportunity to take you to the promised land and they are unable to do so then you have to make changes and try something different.

I believe players are allowed cars, why would they need to hide it?
Cars from a club sponsor yes, but the value is included in the salary cap.
Cars they win in a bet on a golf course from a non-sponsor are not included in the salary cap.

It’s easy to blame the coach but at some point the players need to be accountable .moses gets his kick against Penrith 2 points gutherson Rips into team mate that has a ripple effect on the team
You have the team but a few guys are not aiming up.Sivo and Ferguson early in year where carving up are they still even playing
Your board who I beleive you elect have 5 people making decisions on who gets signed
You guys are still in it have faith one good game it all swings back around .If that fails jump onto Ivan’s bus and help us throw eggs at the crying tigers supporters

Players have been held accountable. Players get moved on, new ones come in, players get dropped or benched, players get less than what they are demanding (N Brown and Gutho). At some point the coach also has to be accountable. 8 years not enough time to be held to account?

Of course the coach is accountable. There’s been talk of him leaving virtually every year so there is definite scrutiny on him.

We’ve been improving over those 8 years but have plateaued over the last couple of years. If we continue to plateau then he’ll be gone.

Thing is Brad Arthur is still under contract for 2022 to the Eels. In a CVID effected climate, is it financially prudent to sack him as coach this off season and have to pay him out for 2022? Don't forget any payout would count against the club's Football Department Cap too.

So the best thing to do is nothing? Just let things continue to go downhill for another year? It might not be financially prudent but it is irresponsible to not make changes when things are not improving. 8 f**king years.

We haven’t been improving over those 8 years. We improved for the first 4 years and have plateaued since about 2017, with the outlier being 2018.

That what makes the board decision last year to re-sign him midway through the year as ridiculous. He already was contracted to end of 21 so he wasn't out of contract at the time.

There was no need to rush it and should have waited till the end of the last year. To see how we went in finals. We faded while it was not all BA fault. The fact the club were concerned 2 days after our exit last year the board leaked to the media that the team and BA needed the team to do more then just running a few extra laps in pre-season which i think is code for team needs more then just effort to win a premiership.

They're not going downhill.

YearDifferential
2014-103
2015-125
2016+19
2017+39
2018-176
2019+60
2020+104
2021+161 (so far)

A few poor results to end the season would see a plateau at worst, though a general upwards trend. I understand it might be happening too slowly for some fans, but I don't see the coach as the reason for this. Our recruitment/retention for 2023 will be key to the medium term future, and that has pretty much started with Gutherson's latest contract negotiations. Maybe Arthur needs to go for us to get this right? One thing for sure, none of us would know.

As for how we go in 2022, it will come down to the off season improvement of our youngsters, including a few not currently in the top 17.

You say we’ve been improving for 4. I say 6. I’ll split you the difference and we’ll go with 6.

You don’t think we are going downhill compared to last year?
No. The season isn't even over yet. We only lost one more game over 20 rounds (and last year we were lucky and won a lot of close ones) but have a significantly better points differential.
You don’t think our current season is going downhill?
No, we've had some key players unavailable, and are coming up against some of the better teams all at once. Everyone predicted this. I don't know why it's suddenly a crisis.
