Does Brad Arthur deserve the hype?

chopping and changing the coach isn't going to help. If anything it is going to damage the parramatta brand possibly beyond repair.

If we're second last or worse half way through 2016 do we just continue in the same direction?

Just dumb. I can't understand the logic of having effectively 15 against 17, especially when we had that 10-15 minute period with no ball. It mightn't have been the exact reason we lost the game but it didn't help.

Kicking for goal at 28-6 with 20 to go sent out a 'protect the lead' mentality. All well and good, but if you're protecting a lead the 1st thing you should do is get the turn style in number 7 off the field.

I don't hate Arthur as a coach. We've shown good improvement in some areas and an ability to bounce back after tough results, but over the last couple of years he's gone into some games without a goal kicker, another one without a dummy half, and now he's using 15 players when we're allowed 17. None of them are doing us any favours in a comp thats so close you need every advantage you can get.

I don't think blaming the coach is the answer, we've been through, what, 5 or so coaches in the last 10 years? and Parra have had the same inconsistent, half hearted performances the whole time. We were probably the most consistent under Brian Smith, but even he could get them in the right frame of mind when it counted.

I'm starting to think it isn't the coaches, but the weird thing is, you can't really blame the players either, the squad we have now is as different as the coaching staff, but the attitude remains.

That just leave the board, right? Wrong-o. they've chopped and changed too.. same ol' same ol'.

what is this "Disease" that has infected this club? it seems to hit anyone that comes here, and seems to wear off once they leave.

I really don't know, I don't. after tonight, just watching them roll over and let in try after try with hands on hips and absolutely NO FIGHT at all. It has to be something, but it is almost impossible to figure out the common denominator.

Any ideas? Anyone?

Yep. People keep telling us it's all Hayne's fault.
It must be true.

I don't think it's the coaches fault at all to be honest.

I think a number of our players are physically inept or mentally weak. In my opinion there needs to be a major clean out (AGAIN). All players currently off contract this season should be re-leased. We need some new attitudes. Every single player currently off contract is replaceable with a player of similar or better quality at a similar or less cost.

We need different players here than what we've currently got.

As bad as we were in that second half, you're all not giving enough credit to a team that had previously won 9 in a row and features players like Morgan, Thurston, Tamou, Scott, Taumalolo, Cooper etc., all in good form.

They're competition favourites for a reason - they're not bums.

I reckon our right side defence has looked worse since BA makes hoppa defend on the wing with Morgan next to sandow. Why he f**ken defends tepai, sandow and Morgan all next to each other, 3 players with serious defensive issues is beyond me.

I dont blame Arthur. He has done some good things. We have been competitive in almost every game, and with a couple of favourable bounces of the ball we could be 50/50 win loss record.

We are a bit inexperienced. A bit prone to panic. And need some hard heads and a touch of class.
We need a better defensive scheme, but then again, if 1 player simply doesnt try for long stretches, then it is impossbile to compensate.
Cautiously optimistic about what we might do with the new halves pairing next year, and a couple of hard heads to mentor guys like Moeroa.

Agree. The coach is copping it for the last 20 but people are ignoring the bit where we scored 30 against the form side.

How good is our 5/8 going BTW.

Yep I agree with that.

Very frustrating season, so close yet so far.

This season is gone but quietly confident we will have good year next year.

We just need to ensure we finish this season strongly.

Defence needs fixing but Foran / Scott will make a difference there.

Our attack has been pretty good, we are pretty dangerous. I reckon we have scored close to the most tries outside oppositions 20.

We're a team that has become almost 'familiar' with losing... oldmancraigy I think is on the money when he says the lads are prone to panic... At the game last night, I honestly felt when it got to 30-18, it was game on. When it was 30-24, such was the momentum, I thought the Cowboys were home tbh.

The other thing last night's game highlighted to every other club in the comp last night is that if you're playing Parra you are never out of it... if they didn't know that already... but even a really bad team should be able to bring a 30-6 lead home to the final whislte in front of their home fans with 25 minutes to go... 30 points in 12 minutes.... still shaking my head....

Come on mate the coach is above criticism, just because we have sacked so many coaches the last few years mean a we shouldn't ask any questions about the coach for the next 5 years. We need stability :sarcasm:

That makes me feel so much better.
Thanks mate.

Actually as emotional as we all right now you must admit it actually does make sense...

I blame the coach for the capitulation, he should of done something about our right side when it became painfully obvious that we were going to get run down and the lack of use for player 16 and 17 was just abysmal...

Not sure what Arthur could have done to fix the edge defence during the game. Pauli probably makes it worse and Álvaro can't play there.

Maybe he could have moved Gower there, but it happened so quick.

No wonder he wants Kelly in the side.
