I agree on the not newsworthy part but you and I don't decide what is news.
You are right, opinionated jurnos with an agenda of "selling" news to advertisers and their own hidden biases and agendas do. The Dragons have the right to decide how the club brand is promoted and shown within their ability, just as every other club is.
Sometimes they get this wrong, a good example being our hideous jerseys for 2010. But St George have decided that they rather not have a low budget low audience News Corp production company nosing around the club. Maybe if the Dragons were paid royalties for it, it might be worth it. But if it is simply lining the pockets of Foxtel why bother?
Its a non issue. Dragons fans don't care about this at all. Just Rotfield sh!t stiring again, and you are all biting.
In regards to sponsors, Souths have just as much success as the Dragons in attracting and retaining sponsors and I've no doubt the sponsors would prefer to see them on this show, than not.
We also have Souths TV.
Maximum exposure is what sponsors want.
To suggest otherwise is delusionary.
If it achieves positive publicity. A show seen by relatively few people and is poorly produced, you could argue that a sponsor wouldn't want to be associated with it. Each of these shows is trying to capture the audience of a clubs fan base, hence targeting the clubs with bigger fan bases to maximise TV viewership and revenue for Foxtel. They don't care about the Dragons at all.
Fans and sponsors aren't going to turn around and ditch the club for another just because there wasn't a poorly edited wooden 30 min puff piece on a Foxtel subscription channel in the off season. They probably could show a previous season game and get more viewers, which I think makes this all a bit pointless.
I see this show as being good for a club like Canberra, who need the exposure and brand building, but for a club like St George, it really is a waste of time.
Good work Bennet and Doust.
