Point is, they wouldnt be able to maintain/achieve a place in the NRL.
Yeah i know. But at least they'd stand alone in Premier League and Flegg

I believed from the beginning that for it all to work there needed to be some hard decisions made - eg: combine both leagues clubs under the one board (and one roof) as well as football clubs creating a new club whereby it's members have a say in the running of the team. Then have a permanent home ground and take it all from there. There'd be no more arguments.

Or if clubs want to maintain identity, one feeder club, one NRL club.

A balancing act will never work.

Just curious as a supporter of the other JV, what is the common feeling among Saints Illa fans about the merged Premier league team?

Do the majority prefer the merged or seperate indentities?

I think there is a swing towards a JV PL with WestsTigers fans, though that wont be happening now with Wests being stubborn and Balmain jumpin in the cot with Ryde/eastwood.

Firstly I've never said the Red V should be replaced, just the Steelers design used as the alternate jumper...
With respect, you don't have to be Einstein to work out what you're after.

1.) You have said a number of times that you want an end to the JV and the Steelers back. You may recall this.
2.) You just said that you want all 'Dragons' games to be played in Wollongong - an inequity if there ever was one.
3.) When asked about the connection with the Steeler's jersey and moving to Wollongong, said this:

It will certainly win back a hell of alot of people. As for moving down here, I asked the Dragons and they said "not in the near future". Notice they didn't say never :p I'll always hope!

An ultimate aim to see the Steelers name going around again, wearing the Steelers jersey, playing in Wollongong fulltime... that sounds about right doesn't it?

Unless you've recently changed your mind.

There'll all separate issues Willow, with one common thread - change from the current situation.

In regards to the Steelers standing alone, my idea (which is separate to this argument) was that the Steelers would of been better off standing alone in PL and Flegg, perhaps as a feeder club to St.George. (as a way of both clubs maintaining their true identity). It would of meant just controlling the juniors and having more of a presence than is currently the case.

This issue is on the basis of the joint venture staying in place. And it's looking good at 85% :p

You're desperately trying to twist and combine all my opinions on different matters into one to try and discredit the argument.

Keep it up... you've got me in stitches.

You're dancing around the question:

Your ultimate aim to see the Steelers name going around again, wearing the Steelers jersey, playing in Wollongong fulltime... does that sound right?

Yes or no will do.

I may support Manly with a passion but-
I would like to see a team from Illawarra playing in the NRL again weather they are the steelers or another name, the only thing stopping a succesful team in this area was $$ as this Area down here has to be one of the greatest Nurserys for juniors going around of anywhere in Australia
Thats the only reason St george wanted the takeover sorry merger

There is a team down here, the St George Illawarra Dragons.
This is a prime example of why St George supporters crack the shits about Illawarrans.
You have a team down here, that plays 7 out of 12 games down here, has Illawarra in the name, and you go and support Manly.
No wonder they call Berkeley, Bezerkley.
Manly Fan for 33 years & loving it
With this statement you show how much you cared for the steelers when you had them.

Here's something for the people who think our uniform is more St.George than Illawarra. Look at MOS82's avatar. Take away the Red V from our jersey & what do you get? The complete Illawarra uniform.

Good point. So whats with the full red (scarlet) thing then?

The White 'BHP' jersey with the two red hoops on the sleeve is indeed a Steelers jersey:

Add the St George red V and you get the St George Illawarra jersey.

Part of the reasoning for the Steelers being the 'away' jersey is because people believe it gives due recognition to Illawarra.

The current 'home' jersey already does that.

Has this been overlooked because the Red V is a dominant and an immediately recognisable feature? Or is it because the Steelers jersey was just too bland to notice?
Or perhaps a combination of both?

But Ok, fair enough, The Steelers get a little recogniation on the home jersey.

What recognition do they recieve on the alternate jersey?

Have a look at the shorts on Wishart in the MOS82 sig, they are exactly identical to the shorts St.George used to wear. We should wear those because it represents both.

So are you serious?

Those two thin stripes, the ones at the END of the sleeve....the ones that are about a third of the width of the stripes on the old Illa jumper which were ON the sleeve, theyre supposed to represent Illawarra?

It sure as hell doesnt remind me of the old Illa jumper, maybe thats not the idea, maybe representation is the only aim?

 That was our old ALTERNATE JERSEY!!!

Reverse colour design. Hell, i'd even be happy if the Dragons did that.

I actually agree.

The shorts the dragons wear now were never worn by the Steelers. When we had stripes like them the shorts were red(scarlet).

Well whats the problem then?
The Steelers jersey, 'alternate' of otherwise, makes up half of the Dragons jersey.
The whole premise of this thread was to win votes of sympathy from those who feel Illawarra are not getting enough recognition.

The Red V can't help it if it stands out more than the red arm stripes.

btw, you didn't answer my last question. A little directness won't go astray.
