Would love to know why Dean Young has been kept on but Hornby hasn't. They've both had their time during the meekest, poorest coached sides in memory.
I'd love to know what he's got that Hornby doesn't.
Oh....

It has to be photos there is nothing else is there? It’s just coincidence that he has the same name as the man who was sacked as coach for Brian Smith and wields immense influence in the club. Just saying.

Yes twice and a heap better credentialed coach than McFlop will ever be or think he is. Poor Pricey was handed the poison chalice like many other that have had to follow in the shadows of the Master Coach & stumbled.
Poor Pricey ...pffttt
Yes maybe his hands were tied by Young & Doust and poor recruiting but I will never see Price as a successful NRL head coach. It is a bit of a bias and personal thing with me but I dont believe he has the real management and team building / coaching innovation skills needed to be successful here.
But probably a great assisstant coach.
Do I rate him better than Mary..from what he has done over here in 2.5 yrs as a head NRL coach...no.
Mary basically took his team from easy beats to leading a comp falling into just semi final bound a year later. But I dont rate Mary as a coach either.

Lets just say for argument sake that Young has shown the club that his input & strategies have been first class ( until last season but there are excuses accepted for this ) and Hornby has done diddley squat. Then why was Hornby only moved on when his contract expired ? So who replaced who ? Flanagan for Hornby but who has Shepherd replaced ?

Than maybe Flanno is in control or at least preparing to be ???????

Yes, i think the club has been very quiet for a reason. Flanno already picking his own staff.Take this as a scenario in place ?
* Mary to be sacked early next season for any technicality that is in his new contract signed this year so they don't have to pay his 2021 salary.
* Sheppard takes over puppet role for rest of year ( Flanno pulling the strings )Club appeals for Flanno to take over in 2021.
* Young retained to appease that side of the Boards young connection.
* Club very active in the marketplace with release of list cloggers Lafai, Aitkin, and the retirement of Graham and Debellin in gaol or at another club ( how can he come back smelling like roses now after all the evidence is exposed at the trial ? )
* facets of Gould's review implemented but as we will never know what the review stated lets hope we are pleasantly surprised ( nepotism obviously wasn't one of them )

Agree it doesn’t make sense except for the view that Young’s dad saved him from getting the chop but they don’t think he is capable of taking over when Mary gets sacked so Shepherd is the insurance should the Board finally wake up to themselves.

Surely we look at Gideon Moseby from NQ, he would come pretty cheap. Weneed some speed & he certainly has it in spades, have I overloooked some obvious flaws in his game that our current wingers/fullback don’t have.

Matt Head and Crawley? also gone
You see Head & Hornby and Crawley were Mary's main hands on trusted assistants whilst Head also had to look after training the CC which was a mistake. He should of had one job or the other
Dean Young i thought was all things forwards but apparently that was not the case. Anyway going forward will still have more of a token role although with a title and helping out etc but more like a management role similar to his dad in the past managing this & that.
Dean is more of a message bearer on game day and believe why he was spared not a coaching person...we will see.

The cost of the cap is covered by the NRL, but it has to be spent (on players).

The coach’s salary is a separate issue.

Yeah, i know that mate, but the article says "cashed up with a 4 mil war chest".

Since we haven't heard of any funds being injected into the JV, the $$ mentioned must cap space.

He has better credentials thanks to SL but I dont hold SL as high up on the mantlepiece as most people do for players or coaches. The only thing over in SL the pay would be better than here as the top coach criteria bar is not as high for a coach.
If you have success as a coach here and are good enough this is where you stay. Sheensy is an exception has had success here and runs on the board before going over there enjoying good retirement pension in his twilight years, maybe saw the light early enough about coaching over here and the stress and maybe his time was done.
