So with you analogy every potential or 1st grader gets 1 year only at a young age to prove themselves or cut them. So why do you still rate Quinny. How many years has he had to prove himself to be 1st grade NRL standard. If you understand playing or development, imagine there would hardly be a front row forward in the comp if you judged them on Year 1. Ponga if mentioned is an absolute 1 out of the box and rare.
You name Tedesco, he has playing 1st grade at fullback 5 years ago, then and only in the last 3 years after Canberra tried to poach him did he start to prove his worth. He had to prove himself at fullback afetr starting on the wing? only when Moltzen was tried in the halves. I did not see him playing like he did now in 2013-2014.
And about Tedesco, Dragons lost out to the Tigers in signing him to play 1st grade before his debut. We nearly had him DQ, probably did not offer enough and Price V Sheens, no wonder we lost out but alas...all was not lost, we promoted Quinny a year later to debut. Who needed Tedesco  we had Quinny. Where are they both now?
Sorry but you've lost me. Call it post night duty fog or whatever. Quinlan debuted at aged 20. He wasn't deemed good enough or big enough to be given a full year to develop. I'm fully aware we missed out on Teddy. Shame really. No doubt I have shown bias towards Quinny because I know him and the hard work he has put in. He's had his contract extended for another 3 years in ESL under Sheens. Do I think he'd make it an NRL team? Nope. I don't think Dufty will either. I hope that simplifies my thoughts on the matter. Give him another year by all means. You never know. I might end up biting lengths off my tongue if he turns out to be as good as some people think. Cheers.

Hayne should not be considered.
Apart from being a toxic dickhead he’s way past his best and injury prone.

2012 - 12 games
2013 - 15 games
2014 - 21 games
2017 - 17 games
2018 - 15 games

Half the Parra fans don’t want him for good reason.

Now that Bennett is available for 2019, we should sign Hayne and Bennett. Bennett will keep him in line and probably return Hayne to one of the best fullbacks in the game.

Apparently he will be off to the wabbits possum - he prefers a Sydney club that has lots of money to spend . Our mate Bruce must have a wee bit of Scottish blood in him as I don’t believe he will be opening his wallet to help out .

On his day Hayne is pretty awesome. He finished the season strongly. If Saints can swap Laffai for Hayne I would take it. That is the best deal Saints can get out of this. Hayne and Aitken in the centres. Mann and Lomax on the wings. That would be a very dynamic backline for me and one that CAN win a premiership even with a rookie coach like Mary.

Hayne asking too much...we would need to shed a few players and promote more rookies...

I'm not on board with his signing if it actually happens GS. It's not so much his playing that irks me, but more the loyalty. We all know he can be devastating when he's on song. Oddly enough the Eels wanted him back and now they are back peddling. Too much baggage I'm guessing.

Love the 'wee bit' part, and the tight wallet Gareth. Coming from a Scottish heritage who was brought up in NZ, I get it. Bloody tightwads ;)

Love it. I still follow the Ranfurly Sheild, I've never had any animosity towards you except when you have the Cap Lock on. PS. You don't have to agree with me. Our opinions differ so it's not a big deal.

FMD this place is going soft.
Next minute everyone will be off the "ignore" list.
The offseason sure does suck.
I played rugby for years and had the pleasure of playing with and against few guys who had played Ranfurly when they were younger and they all had good skills
Certainly makes our club rugby look ordinary and probably why we are where we are on the world rugby stage.

We still have Nightingale's and Macdonald's salary cap so all we would need to do is off-load either Aitken, Dufty or Lafai and we should have the cash. In any case Hayne to fullback not centre, Lomax and Mann our centres and probably the two new wingers on our wings.

1. Hayne
2. Pearson
3. Lomax
4. Mann
5. Ravalawa

Aside from Pearson, Ravalawa and Saab, Millward is on the record as saying he is still looking to sign one more back; maybe it is Hayne.

Lomax will play right centre and Aitken will be in ISP.
