Dragons chase Jarryd Hayne

Most Parra supporters I have spoken to say Hayne is passed it and don’t want Parra to sign him.

My biggest concern is his attitude would need to really improve for him to play a positive role at Saints.

I see him as lazy, arrogant, injury prone and a disruptive influence wherever he has been over last few years.

Hopefully French Rugby outbids is.

Reports were he played really last season when he wasn't injured

It was reported that the Dragons tabled a 500k offer. I expect Hayne will sign for 500-600k so I guess we are in the hunt. I'd like to see Hayne as our fullback with Lomax and Mann as our centres. Depending on how they go in the off-season, it would also be great if Pearson and the other rookie we signed from the Raders would make it as our first grade wingers.

As yourself and Dennis Preston mentioned earlier , if he left his baggage behind and really knuckled down to the task at hand and came here to make a statement then I would also be most happy to see him in the Big Red V . But there is also his court case that could possibly be in America that is a very big stumbling block .

As to the wingers , yes Pearson from what I have been reading has speed to burn and is no slouch when it comes to his defense . However Pierria has already earned the other wing spot . Great under the high ball , runs it back hard and makes every post a winner - the type of player whom will only get better with each top grade game he plays . The Fijian chap needs to stake his claim from the ISP with some outstanding performances.

There was a member of our forum whose favorite line was that the Dragons need speed - speed and more speed , well next season he will finally get his wish , we all will .

Adam Hawse from Fox at the charity cricket match yesterday
Mon morning talking to sports breakfast radio, he said there has been an offer from Dragons but he can't say anything more about it.

He said that Parra can't fit him in their cap, that he came back unexpectedly, and parras cap was already planned well in advance without his cost included.

But we will see.

I am very uncertain about him.
Unlikely he will ever regain past success. He is toxic in my opinion.

Left Parra, went to grid iron.
Left grid iron, went to Fiji rugby.
Left rugby went to titans.
Left titans, joined Parra.

Aitken will play right centre and Lomax will play ISP.
Agree . Anybody thinking our centres wont be Aitken and Lafai are kidding themselves . Lomax may get a gig on the wing with one of the reserve graders on the other but nothing else will change .

Pearson and Pereira are both left side wingers. The Fijian must be a right side winger. If we sign Hayne and picked the round 1 team on fitness and performance during off-season training / trials, I'd say we should end up with the following back 5:

1. Hayne
2. Pearson
3. Lomax
4. Mann
5. The Fijian
6. Widdop
7. Hunt
8. Vaughan
9. McInnes
10. Graham
11. Leilua
12. T Sims
13. De Belin

14. Frizell
15. K Sims
16. Robson
17. Aitken

More speed and better defence than the 2018 backline. This 2019 backline sitting behind one of the best forward packs in the NRL will finally sing. Haynes defence, ability to read a game and ability to call it from the backfield will be very handy for the likes of our two new wingers and Lomax at right centre. Hayne also knows when to insert himself into the play, set up his teammates or score himself.

Hunt and Widdop will surely weave their magic again but this time positions 1 to 5 will finish off the hard work of 6-17.

Frizell and K Sims to the front row rotation to add some extra first grade punch to our forward pack. Lawrie and Latimore to backup from ISP and rotate week to week with the NRL props that need a rest or who have minor injuries.

Also off the bench comes Robson in the triangle role replacing Leilua when required and staying on to replace McInnes when Leilua comes back on.

Aitken to be the bench utility rotating with De Belin and filling in at centre if there is an injury in the backline.

I really like this 17 and so hope the above players all have a really good off-season and so, force their way into the side.

I like the look of your team Possm, but I think it would have to be either Aitken or Robson on the bench, with either Lawrie or Host taking the last bench spot. I also would be concerned that Frizell may get pissed off about not being in the starting line up. I think he would be really good coming off the bench playing prop in that pack or even playing lock when Debelin is off the field. I would even consider starting with Frizell at prop and bringing Graham on off the bench. I fully expect Sims and Frizell to be our 2 starting second rowers next year.

I also like how you referred to number 5 as "The Fijian". Classic. lol

We are in the box seat as far as the NRL is concerned. Eels need to shed players and until that happens they cannot fit him.

We may need to shed Mann to fit him comfortably
