Its like do what we can to win the Comp with Mary at the helm . Signing Hayne for a two year period , win the premiership then we will see what happens after that ... Hayne is a short term fix , for me Dufty is a long term option .... The kids only had one season in to grade....

That appears to be the way that they are thinking Hazzbeen , but as you and everyone else realizes there is no guarantee that Hayne will perform as well as he did say 5-6 ago , they are simply rolling the dice .

Mate I personally think Hayne will be good for us , but don't want to lose a long term option in Dufty either ... Would be good if they are both with us ....

We know James Graham brings discipline and respect to a team and was shown to do that with Dufty in no uncertain manner so why lumber him with Hayne who has neither and is so self obsessed he will provide unwanted distraction to the young guys
James Graham has a great message to deliver let’s not create white noise around it.

If Dufty is being "shopped" then it has nothing to do with ability or his development.
More to do with attitude imo. There have been several reports that Dufty has a serious attitude problem and Hornby had to pull him aside to get his head straight, then again the incident with James Graham and the Dogs game.
Hayne also has an attitude problem but a big difference in where they are in their careers and he's probably the best available atm.
Hayne 2yrs would give players like Field or Masters or even Lomax as the long term fullback who is probably the most common sense one.

But for mine he would be better positioned in the centers or wing along with Lorax , but we must keep Duffy and allowe him the opportunity to truly develop as a genuine No. 1 .

I have heard that it's not actually Dufty requesting more money. I am lead to believe it's a stand off between his manager and the club. Not sure how true it is, but apparently Duft is desperate to stay at the club on his current salary.

Also, I was looking at some of the highlights from the games this year. During the period where we were on top, Duft did some pretty good stuff - some good defence and attack and he did perform well under the high ball at times. I think it's consistency. During our losing period his deficiencies were more apparent, but he does have the ability to do these things - he just needs time to develop and be more consistent.

You also have to look at the gap between ISP and NRL. Watching some of the highlights from his time in ISP, it appears to be a different game style. Defence is often non-existent (not just Dufty but the games seem to be focussed on attack rather than defence) so I'd be concerned that dropping him back to ISP won't resolve his defensive problems. It also seems that Duft played more of a support role out the back - backing up, following through etc. That's not how he plays in NRL.

It's a balancing act. I'd be concerned if we were to let him go - there's definitely talent there, it's just making sure we nurture it. But I'm not sure we can do that adequately in ISP.
Player managers are the thorn that rips clubs, players and fans apart. Dont be surprised if what your 1st paragraph says is true. He makes it known and it shows he loves the Dragons as his parents are also from Lugarno in the St George area and he would be desperate to stay. But his dad Glen could be well advised if he is not happy with what his current manager is doing there are plenty more out there. I wish more players would stand up for themselves and do what their heart tells them but they let their managers run their whole life. Some managers are great talkers and can convince you a square peg goes into a round hole...amazing

Completely and utterly insane. Hayne has not been fit enough for 2 seasons to play at full-back so what makes us think he will get the necessary fitness now as a 31 year old? And we will release a local junior with speed to burn and tremendous upside to sign a 30+ year old player with a reputation for ruining culture. Unbelievable. This reeks of an attempt to win a comp and make McGregor a 20 year coach at the club. I fell like throwing up. Who is running the place?
Player managers and the media. They are getting us all into a tizz

All this goings on, this is what pisses me off with our clubs management. Maybe it happens at other clubs but i dont give a crap what other clubs do.
Millward and or the coach, or the CEO should come out and address this speculation re Dufty for the fans.
They know who starts and spins this shit or if there is truth to it.
They dont have to address other club player signings or who they are looking at to sign and money etc, but for the current members, young kids who have bought or want to be a Matt Dufty and buy his jersey (and there would be plenty of kids who just want to run like Dufty in the playground at St George / Wollongong schools), supporters we deserve and have a right to be told what the club is intending to do with its current players that we pay good money and invest time to go and support and do something when these rumours hit our big screen.
(i.e. that they are looking to lock up Sims long term, what is happening with Dufty and other off player contracts for 2019). Why do we have to hear from the media 2nd hand version first.
So what the hell are our highly paid media managers, staff and gurus doing about getting this addressed. Like usual nothing, Their policy is to tell management say nothing, keep quiet, be sworn to secrecy and only say something after it is completed so to protect your integrity. The fans will get over it and let the media have its fun.
Just maybe St George Illawarra...to engage your supporter base may bring them closer and more of them to your club.
I noted several people employed at Parra have come out directly in the media after the leak and addressed the Hayne contract saga being honest. "We dont have the money to offer him a contract basically for his worth". Hard isnt it.!
Rant Over.

Jarryd Hayne: Knights close door on Eels return as Dragons reportedly clear runway space

Jarryd Hayne’s dream of returning to the Parramatta Eels in 2019 appears over – but St George Illawarra are reportedly set to get serious in their bid to lure the club-less veteran to Wollongong.

The two-time Dally M medallist’s one-year deal with the Eels expired at the end of last month and he remains unemployed despite both player and club publicly expressing a desire to reunite next season.

For the Eels to fit the former NSW and Australia star under their salary cap they need to move at least one high-profile player on to a rival club.

Veteran centre Michael Jennings has been linked with the Newcastle Knights in recent weeks in a move that would have freed up enough cap space for the Eels to pay Hayne’s estimated $700,000 asking price.

But the Knights’ decision to sign former South Sydney utility Hymel Hunt on a one-year deal has squashed the Jennings rumours and seemingly ended Hayne’s Eels career.

Parramatta have unsuccessfully shopped Mitchell Moses and Corey Norman to rival clubs and unless either playmaker finds a new employer in the coming months Hayne will be squeezed out.

The Dragons emerged as possible suitors for Hayne last month and are reportedly ready to ramp up their pursuit of the 30-year-old.

According to Fairfax Media, the Red V are prepared to offload enigmatic full-back Matt Dufty before the start of the NRL season in order to secure Hayne’s signature.

Dufty, who is contracted until the end of 2019, has produced plenty of eye-catching moments in his brief career in first-grade but inconsistency remains a problem.

Dragons officials believe the addition of Hayne would help fill the void left by the off-season departures of Nene Macdonald (North Queensland) and Jason Nightingale (retired).

Hayne is yet to comment publicly on the Dragons’ rumoured interest.

The former San Francisco 49ers running back has also been linked with a possible move to rugby union, however, a move to the Dragons now appears far more likely.

Your basing this on ?

You could always go 1. Widdop 6. Field
I base it on watching him and he is very ordinary in defence.
Widdop to 1 is the cop out option and some how people think filling 6 would be easy
Why change 2 positions to fix 1 perceived problem?

The type of plane I was hoping for was a #500k model for centre/wing, backup for injuries to 1 or 6.

A more expensive #700k model plane that takes out our Cessna jet at the back is not good I say. Hoping its paper talk akin to BS.
