Dragons chase Jarryd Hayne

There is no way that Millward would sign two young wingers, keep Mann and then sigh Hayne as a winger. No, you can be sure that he has been told to find a first grade fullback and if Hayne is signed, he will play fullback.

Just imagine Hayne at 5 and Aitken at 3, what a joke! I'd say the most likely backline will be:

1. Hayne
2. Mann - may move to left centre if Lafai does not shape up
3. Lomax - no contest, he will replace Aitken
4. Lafai - if he does not shape up, Mann at left centre
5. TBA - could be one of the new wingers
I doubt Mann will be with us next year and if he is there is not a chance in hell Mary will pick him on the wing . He is a number 14 under Mary regardless who we have .
Aitken and Lafai will be Mary's centres unless injured . Lomax will play on one wing and if Hayne comes the other wing or fullback . If he is fullback the other wing will be one of the reserve graders .

yes this is the special kind of imbocile we are dealing with sadly.
Id love to see

dufty
mann
lomax
hayne ( if were lucky) or Lafai if were not at least he can tackle unlike aitkenhead

pearson/periera
widdy
hunt * by having mann finally in the star ton team as he should have been for the last 3 seasons we can have a supersub Field off the bench, at least hed be a wildcard and a lot more explosive than mann in that role

At least we have tabled a good first offer. I'd say he really wants 700k and the actual deal will be at fullback money 600k for one year with SGI having an option for another year at 700k.
yeah I thin Haynes a gun centre personally, hed be wasted at Wing, I think Dufter goes ok and with a but more stardust around who can bal play and get passes away i think little Dufter will run riot next season If we pick right.....

ok, Imagine if we have Lomax AND Hayney in our team as centres.....imagine young Dufter hanging off sneaky passes from those 2? enuff said, wed score a LOT of points.....also Dufter has an enormously telepathic connection with little Luch also...so he will be sniffing round Widdy, Hunt, Luch, Lomax AND Hayne, my prediction Dufter to have a breakout season next year as our fullback

also Field should be on the bench aso he ALSO can hang close to sneaky offloads from that mob too, wed clean up Mcgregors INSANE if he doesnt get Lomax in there, even without haybe hed set up Dufter on some magic tries for us

There’s a whole thread devoted to Mary hate. Can’t you Mary hate addicts get your fix there?!
Keep off the streets and use the injecting rooms as provided? We don’t want the kids being needled.
Mcidiot wins 50 % of his games, now that’s a coach going backwards.
He needs a top 12 to have any future success
But yes......he is still way in front of you

There is no way this is going to happen. This is the most obvious case of ‘manager trying to get more money for his client from their current club’ that I’ve seen in months.

OY..look we both dont think McGregor is a good coach but your gotta stop using your stats. Outside the Big 2 of Bellamy & Bennett how many coaches boast better than 50% that are not in the 1st year. Robbo maybe..in fact I would say not many at all. So your stats make him look better than you think  Careful what you wish for, a coach with 50% will have usually made the Top 8 every year. Better off telling us what his stats are from Round 10-26 of each year since he took over in 2014. That will paint the picture your trying to tell us.

Normally i'd completely agree, but a very credible poster on JA has confirmed that we are actually the ones who are interested in Hayne and have made the inquiries.

Signing Hayne on the plus side, he has not won a premiership. We must be considered a real chance in the next 2 years. Hayne would not want to be another Hindmarsh carrying the burden of never wearing the premiers ring. This would be his last opportunity and playing behind our pack would give him every chance of achieving this.
On the minus side if he is still involved with civil court rape allegations in the US he may not have his head in the right space. He is also not getting any younger, last year he was carrying injuries that sidelined him for long periods of the season.
My vote is yes for the right price and giving him a little time to blend into the Dragons way on and off the field.

For one year I’d take him. Been pretty dissapointed with our centres. Aitkin was never in the hunt for SOO as a player who can’t pass the ball. Lafai looks like a plodder to me. We need players there who can create something for their wingers or themselves. What I saw of Lomax suggested he has the goods, and he did more in a few games then Aitkin does in a season. Hayne can do things. Play him in the centres with Lomax. Mann on one wing and let the up and coming fight out for the other. Field could become the impact player off the bench. I would like to see Dufty get another year at the back and who knows, maybe Hayne could give him some coaching? If not, the Hayne slots in at the back. He would give us options.

The notion of Hayne at FB is flawed as defensively he is very poor and he couldn’t teach Dufty anything in that respect
Plenty of teams put plenty of points on when Hayne has been the last line of defence

If we do sign Hayne (and I do stress IF), then there are several options as to where to play him.

Fullback seems the obvious choice. This would then push Dufty where? IMO that would be to the bench as an impact player.
Centre would be next choice. This move has implications for 2 players. Firstly, Aitken would have to either drop to the bench as a ?, unless he reinvents himself over the off-season as a pure utility, otherwiae its ISP time for him. Lomax is the other player impacted here. If Hayne plays centre then almost certainly Lomax plays on the wing. Whilst not ideal at least being outside Hayne would give him greater opportunity rather than zero with Aitken.
This would also leave 3 players fighting for the other vacant wing spot with Periera the incumbent.
Hayne to wing offers nil value in our system.
The final option is pmay Hayne frombthe bench as the utility. But a 500k bench player makes zero sense to me.

One thing I did think of, IF he does come he would be much better halves coverage if hunt is selected for origin. He has played some great games at 5/8 for Fiji

This is so true. You've nailed it.
Aitken and Lafai are the centres and NOTHING will change that other than injury or the removal of Paul.
