I've no basis for this, but there is apparently some rumour we did approach Flanagan, but im guessing that was before he was re-instated... It makes sense that clubs would be interested regardless (for next year probably), perhaps we could be a Plan B option if for some reason it doesnt work out in the Shire (which I think is unlikely, I reckon he will show solidarity with his players).

Dragons club is pretty keen to replace Price, so they will be putting out the feelers in a few directions.

Here is a link for the rumour: http://www.nospam9/nrl/dragons-eys-off-flanno-8798/ I don't see it happening personally.

I am happy to be corrected here but I think Flanno did play a few games for Saint's and I believe IMO that he has a soft spot for Saints. I remember in the 2010 Grand Final he wrote an article saying how the Sharks beat the Roosters that year, and how the Saint's can do it (even though we were 2-0 against them that year) nontheless though I think he will be at the Sharks for a while yet, he has done some impressive work over there for mine.

did you read that some where?

yep - see below

Smith to Dragons?
Warrington's Tony Smith is the latest coach being linked to the Dragons for 2014. A former Dragons player and brother of ex-Dragons coach Brian Smith, Tony has achieved good results with English club Warrington over the past few seasons. Highly-regarded in Britain, Smith is currently talking about a new deal with the Wolves - but you can bet it will include a get-out clause should an NRL job arise.

Stay in the UK Tony the Dragons isn't for you.

Any reason for this? I like the idea of coaches in ESL trying their stuff in NRL, can have good (Madge) and bad (McLennan) results, but I guess it depends on their style...would be better than Pricey you'd think.

Nothing to do with his coaching credentials everything to do with he won't get any support from the board.

They sure as hell haven't backed Price they painted him into a cornor with a lack of vision in recruiting to make the squad stronger.

I doubt Smith would get any help either people like Bennett and Hassler yes they are dominant personalities who demand things and get them most other coaches would get nothing.

Wait...Is this the same Tony Smith who kept kicking the ball out on the full and then punching his leg?

The same guy who kept being picked in front of Peter Coyne as Five Eighth because his brother was the coach?

The same player who saints fans were pleading with the opposition to injure because he was so shit?

This guy was the worst player I've ever seen play football

Next best ESL coach available since Maguire went to Souffs IMO.

T.

agree with this.. and he did some really good things with the English national team.. they were actually competitive during his time in charge..
smart coach, and was a smart footballer. not very naturally gifted as a player but his smarts made up for his lack of physical ability..

Bellamy was no star for the Raiders,Bennett was no immortal,ex star players don't necessarily make good coaches. He was a crap player but doesn't mean anything.

Dude, actually he didn't get picked ahead of Peter Coyne. If you remember, Peter Coyne signed for Castleford at the end of '92 and Tony Smith joined in '93. The controversy with him was that he kept getting picked ahead of Blake.

The Smith brothers actually had a weird relationship and I think Brian genuinely kept picking Tony because he was an experienced and sound defensive back line cog. Other than that they were a bit like Darren and Jason Smith. Not close in a strange way.

Ok so let's assume Price gets the push after 6 rounds? Who is stand-in coach? Is this even in Dragons DNA to do this?

Oh well, but your playing skills do no way in any shape or form define your coaching abilities.
