We need a coach that is going to take the decisions out of Doust's hands. Rookie coach = Doust being more involved = Wooden spoon. Experienced coach = Doust takes a backseat = Winning

Shouldn't we be looking at Shane Flanagan?

While his position is up in the air at the Sharks you would think now is the ideal time for us to pounce. He may not be in the class of a Bennett or a Bellamy but he has proven he can attract players to a club and that, sadly, is what it has come down to for us.

Price should do the honorable thing. He really has put us into a desperate position since taking over the reigns and unfortunately for him he has a great deal of potential as a coach but hasn't made the decisive decisions especially in regards to our halves and recruitment. I am absolutely befuddled how we as a club can allow this to go on. I do expect Price's sacking any day now.

As far as I can see, until we have someone new at the helm we won't be able to attract a Dugan or a Sam Williams because we have nothing going for us.

It's not Prices fault. It is obvious the club had been looking at Bellamy and Cronk ,therefore holding off major recruiting in anticipation of landing Bellamy. It's no use Price standing down,it's up to the club to plan beyond this season as it is and has been obvious that the squad needs freshening up.
The trouble is Price is caught between a rock and a hard place carefull not to blood rookies and playing it safe so he can save his job. However it is also obvious this is not working and he will need to come up with a couple of left field options.
There is also a suggestion about players not putting in.This is crap, the players tried hard and the frustration at not being able to put the Broncos away inevitably led to them snatching the game with late tries.
If we had scored at least 3 tries in the 1st half ,as we should have and end up winning ,this forum would have been talking a totally different language.

Id be shocked if Flanagan doesnt retain his job, the board tried to protect their own jobs by sacking him, but they should be the ones that end up going... Flanagan has the players support.

Price is part of the cause of all this and you cannot debate that. Yes he has it all against him and with a different set of halves this could be a different story. He has however not been proactive in moving us forward nor has he been honest with the fans. "It was a little bit disappointing we couldn't have scored more tries in the first half" - this is how he reacted to that last night. Tell us the truth Steve. You, me, Phil Gould, Gould's mother and anyone who watches rugby league knows we have gone into this season without the calibre of attacking players or combinations to pose a threat despite a myriad of players up for grabs. I didn't use the word 'fault' but you can't tell me Price has nothing to do with this plain fact.

Price played Soward and Fien in the halves again. Price's decision. That's suicide for our club and it was as clear as day, added to the literally pedestrian attack against the Storm. At least try and come up with positioning and some set plays that gives us a chance. Yes Drinkwater, yes King, yes Quinlan, I don't know which but make it proactive or die trying at least. If Bennett's attacking was boring then I don't have a word to describe what we've put out the last 25 weeks of footy.

I dare say last night was the best outcome for us because we might stop playing hard-to-get and make some decisions that see the end of this set up. I don't want the spoon.

I'd definitely consider Flanagan. Also, I'm a newbie here...well kind of. I've been reading the forum a lot since the 09 off-season, and finally registered. I attempted registering a few times, but it would never accept my hotmail, so I'm glad it accepts my uni email now!

Welcome saint.nick.

With a shortage of coaches available I agree, Flanagan should be considered. He has turned the Sharks into a competitive outfit through attracting quality players and coaching the team to be effective. Sounds like what we need.

Yes welcome, greetings and salutations and all that.

More importantly...can you coach or play half ?

I'd also go after Anderson, but do you really think he'd leave his refereeing position after only being in charge for less than half a year? Very highly doubt it.

How about a coach swap with Canberra?
Won't solve any problems, but would give us someone new to vent our spleens on.
