Browny signed some gems as well. You could highlight some dud signings for just about every coach. Wayne Bennett signed Peni Tagive, Daniel Penese, Junior Paulo for example.

Peni Tagive for 80k a season couldnt be considered a flop...
however Peni tagive for 180k a season would be.

its all in perspective - how much the player costs vs the expected output from the player and the role you wish them to play.

Colin best was actually pretty good, I agree though Lincoln Withers and Ennis were good signings even Brett Firman was a good signing at the time even though he did not live up to expectations.

Nathan Brown is the best option. He is now more than qualified. All his mates are now gone and he has a great eye for talent. Always could pick up a good buy or 2 in the off season e.g Withers, Ennis, etc..

I don't think Brown is the answer. He's been in the UK for 4 years and hasn't won anything. He had one of the best playing rosters in 2005/2006 and wasn't able win the premiership so I'd hate to think what he could do with our current roster.

It's not like Brown's recent performances demand he takes us over again, I like Browny but I personally don't think he's our answer!

Browny's recent performances? He got Huddersfield to their first cup final in years. When he took over Huddersfield they were relegation bound. If he was not that good then St Helens would not have taken him.

Slippery, he's not doing all that well at St Helens.

My problem with Brownie is that he's a bit of a "come on fellas" style of coach. He's a good bloke, he's one of the boys with his players and he creates a good feeling in the locker room. So a club is unlikely to fall apart on his watch, but it's never going to be pushed all that far either. Which might be why he can get a team with good players to do pretty well, but can't get a team to get themselves beyond that point to win anything. That was his experience with us and it was his experience at Huddersfield too. The Giants players bang on about how their current coach works them harder and has a bit more of a plan than Brownie had (albeit my only source is the weekly match round ups and reports in the Guardian).

Mary bloody McGregor is another of them and I'd be surprised if he wasn't on Doust's radar as well.

Browny had good game plans. He showed teams how to beat the Storm before he left. He had the wood on Bennett's Bronco's. He has a great football brain.

I would be interested to see which coach would show any interest in taking the Saints job.

If we were to get a new coach I'm leaning towards Tim Sheens now. We need an experienced figurehead.
