I would rather them fight to have the premierships under the 1 name and not 1 under St George Illawarra Dragons and the others 15 under St George Dragons. That is a huge joke to me. The St George Dragons have expanded not completely left the competition. Funny how Eastern Suburbs and Sydney Roosters have the combined amount of premierships. That would be more confusing than what Saints are copping if I was an outsider.

If they do go back to St George, does that mean that if and a big IF they win a comp soon it will be down as 1 showing St George Dragons 15, St George Illawarra Dragons 1 and St George Dragons 1?

If I was to vote I would leave it the same provided the premierships are combined.

This whole name change is ridiculous. We are the Dragons and have represented the St George region since the early 1900's and the Illawarra region since 1998.

All in all, people at the club have clearly heard the outcry from a lot of fans that we want to move forward under a united identity, and unsurprisingly, have completely missed the point. I’d be shocked if a name change went ahead, it’d be one of the worst decisions the club has made, it erases history and only stalls the future. The “southern Dragons” still means there’s no clear identity. It does absolutely nothing changing it to that. Being know as simply “the Dragons” is an absolute piss take. We shouldn’t even be considering following in the footsteps of the NRL’s latest gimmick. It’s only a matter of time before the dolphins become Redcliffe or Moreton bay anyway. “Greater Sydney Dragons”. WTF? Again, no identity whatsoever and we aren’t even in all areas of greater Sydney anyway. We’re based in a singular area of greater Sydney. St.George Illawarra is 100% the way to go. How is it hard to just embrace the history of both sides of what is now one club? They are no longer seperate. f**k me just start acting like you’re one club, and people will start to see you that way. One location, shared history as ONE, one ground, Illawarra away jersey, St.George as home jersey. Embrace history, don’t hide it with a horseshit name change.

Well a good mate of mine ( Horace Noseall ) who just happens to have a cousin , whose best friend sisters aunt serves the tea and coffee in the Dragon board room , wants to reckon that the powers to be have already decided that the team will be named the Illawarra ‘ Buces ‘ in recognition of the sterling services of Bruce Gordon !

No Dragon emblem on the jersey , they apparently had a choice between a transmission tower ( WIN television network ) , a palm tree ( something to do with Bermuda I believe where Gordon lives ) or the more popular option of a pic of Uncle Bruce on the jersey .

Also he believes that Illawarra’s favourite son will return to take up the coaching reins once again - all I know about him at this stage is that he got the Dragons to within 1 game of the grand final and helped take Parramatta to this year’s grand final .

I will let you gents know if Horace has any more nuggets of inspiration to share with you .
