Dragons poised to make a play for Bellamy

Under the current cloud over sport in Australia, News Ltd wouldn't be able to sell the Storm at a fire sale price; even if they wanted to. I am sure the sale of the Club is not on Bellamy's mind at all.

What is likely to be on Bellamy's mind is his next five years. Something tells me the Dragons offer meets a lot of his desires; being next to family, good salary package and a stable Club that is not up for sale. Our well managed juniors programme would also be of great interest to Bellamy as he excels in bringing on young talant.

You know a lot can happen in the next five years and in my opinion, the St George Illawarra Dragons offer provides a challenge as well as stability; things that would certainly be attractive to Bellamy.

My gut feeling is that Bellamy has already made up his mind to coach St George Illawarra and that he does not want to announce it right now in fear the Storm players will be down hearted for the WCC game.

I am going all out now and saying it is 100/0 that Bellamy is going to be our coach in 2014.

And with my usual Shylock scepticism might I enquire as to what cherished items you intend to put up as collateral for such a brave proposition. I am rather keen on a pound of flesh, but others may be after your gonads.

But maybe there is a semblance of credibility in your delusional ravings. I forgot to factor in this weeks proceedings, and it's potential impact on the Storm sale. A prudent buyer would ether want a fire sale price or suspend negotiations until the investigations/prosecutions are well advanced.

So possum I herewith give you, my most very qualified support. :D

And as a young guy up Portland way he was a fanatical Dragons supporter I'm told. All adds up doesn't it.

I agree, if he was going to stay at the storm he would have announced it by now, I have a feeling he didnt want to upset his stuff before the world cup challenge

Have you read the Merchant of Venice OT? There is a loophole to the old pound of flesh.

Maybe the delay has something to do with timing his announcement that he is STAYING at the Storm a week before taking on the Dragons in round 1.

Bellamy is cunning and would be looking to get any advantage whatsover and what better way then by making the announcement the Tuesday prior to taking on the team he REJECTED.

I hope it has the opposite effect and fires up our players!!

This is a point but its first round and dragons really aren't a threat this year. I think they'll do better then last year, but they won't win the comp. They are still missing pieces and can't be spending all the cap. They don't have the depth of seasoned players, only very good rookies who either haven't played many first grade games or haven't played first grade at all.

If we are one of the six clubs, then even St George would wash his hands of us. The implications for us would be devastating.

I Thought they already showed them on Channel 7 earlier in the week. From memory...Sharks, souths, Manly, tigers ,Penrith and 1 other...we were not mentioned.

Bellamy gave an assurance that he want his coaching future all wrapped up before the WCC. If he is coming to us then why the delay? Ok maybe the WCC potential effect on his team. Nah, I am leaning more towards it being negotiations with the new owners, (who is it anyway) of the Storm.

Surely as we have been negotiating with him since last november, we would have nothing left to put on the table. The Storm's new owners, well that is a whole new round of discussions, and that I think is the sticking point, with us be used as the leverage.

I agree 100 percent! The Dragon's offer is on the table. If he wants it then take it. Bellamy is still negotiating with the potential new owners who will only buy the Storm if he stays. He needs to keep the Dragons offer to bargain with the new owners. Doust should redraw the offer now and not allow the Dragons to be treated like shit.

You mean withdraw?

How do you know he hasn't?

Yes, should be withdraw. Whilst the offer is still on the table, Doust will be tight-lipped as he is now. If and when he pulls the offer, he will be telling everyone that Price has the board's support etc.
