Well as a have stated about this I am very happy that he didn't sign with us.... I think price can be the goods and he will now have a chance to show it...

Enough coach talk doust, just let price do it, he has been groomed for this and IMO will succeed!

Blaming Doust for everything is getting plain old ridiculous, if he was so incompetent how has he ever managed to sign anyone, let alone the greatest ever coach.

Bennett fell into Doust's lap. He changed his mind about going to the Roosters, the bulldogs said no and the Cowboys (thanks to Tallis) also said no.

So the mistake Doust made was targeting Bellamy in the first place? Strange. But I guess if you don't go for "your man" you cant miss "your man", which maintains a 100% strike rate.

The mistake he made was allowing the Dragons to be used as leverage to boost Bellamy's next contract. The mistake he made was having this speculation surrounding our club for weeks when in all likelihood Bellamy was never going to come anyway. The Mole announced it 3 weeks ago that Bellamy was staying and it turns out to be spot on. When did Doust find out? Everyone knew the "other club" was the Dragons and players have publically being questioned on the subject so its not media speculation. Why didnt Doust give him a deadline? Instead we've had this rubbish specualtion in the lead up to tha start of the 2013 comp and a rookie coach that now knows he's days are numbered.

The speculation has harmed no-one. You're clutching at straws in a vain attempt to blame someone.

It's like saying that having an election campaign is harmful to the country. The discussion and speculation was both inevitable and in a way, a necessary evil. Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. Suck it up and move on.

Please don't give The Mole this "scoop", a number of people in this thread said back in November he wouldn't come

We want a CEO that can secure the big name! He tried to get Cronk and missed out. He tried to get Bellamy and we missed out. Why are you OK that we again have missed out on securing a big name to the club? All Doust has done is be used as leverage. It happened with Cronk and happened again with Bellamy. I'm of the belief that if you go for your man make sure you get him! Doust should've known early on the piece that News Ltd wouldn't thrown everything and matched whatever offer we made to him. And this is not a "it's good in hindsight comment" - Bellamy was never going to leave Melb!

I'm just disappointed we missed out on a coach that can get us back up the ladder and challenging for the title within 2 years...
I have said many times that we had Cronk and Bellamy in our plans for over a year now.I am as disappointed as the next supporter, what to do want ,string Doust up in a tree FFS.
Yes both have said no to us,this is because of LOYALTY,something very rare these days and it is the major reason why Bellamy is a great coach .He has instilled a culture down there where everyone wants to play for Bellamy and the Storm. It is also why journeyman have performed better than at anytime in their careers.
This is why we threw millions for this bloke.

"Hope" can do funny things to you. It really clouded my judgement this year.

Doust has not done a bad job at all in my opinion.

Really, what are the chances of plying Cronk away from Bellamy, Smith, and Slater. Then, plying Bellamy away from Smith, Slater, and Cronk.

You'd have to think near zero.

So really, Doust (and Co.) only missed out on Jennings. Big deal.

But then I've still got this little voice in the back of my mind telling me maybe Bellamy will announce he's coming.

Haha, one can dream...

Loyalty or fear of their shortcomings being exposed perhaps at another club? One not surrounded by extra millions for the football department and two of the best players in the modern era. Hmmmmmm

p.s. Personally I'm a bit disappointed in Bellamy (lol, yeah like he gives a f**k). But I thought our young ranks were pretty juicy for a five-year plan. de Belin, Cummins, Rein, King, Stockwell, Drinkwater, Merrin, Beale, etc.

He chose the safe option.

Weak merkin.

Martina can stay on the gravy train for another 5 years. Leaving was obviously a bit too scary for the poor fella

Coaching supremo Craig Bellamy has announced he is staying with NRL premiers Melbourne Storm after signing a new three-year deal until the end of the 2016 season.

Bellamy, who was already contracted until the end of 2013, said his strong emotional attachment to the club, and particularly the players, he's coached since 2003 was too strong to break.

Bellamy was being heavily courted by St George Illawarra.

"I feel like a bit of a fan I suppose. This is my club," said Bellamy.

"I found that attachment too hard to break to be quite honest."

Bellamy said he wasn't sure whether this new deal would see him to the end of his coaching career.

Yep I've done it again; followed my heart instead of my head. Even ended up convincing myself Bellamy was on his way. Over the years it has cost me in tipping competitions and even the occasional bet on the results of a game.

Now that it's over and sone with, let's get on with cheering on the boys to win the round 1 game against the Storm.
