I would say no to Martin. We are right for secondrowers. We also have Ford in CC, who is apparently going very well.

We need wingers, centres and at least one prop.
The NRL are insisting that we must recruit a replacement for De Belin in order to obtain salary cap relief. So Martin is probably a good choice at this point in time.

I think this would be our 29th top 30 player, so only one more to go before June 30 and I'm tipping Saab will be that player. No more new players for 2019 unless Robson is let go early and we pick up someone like DWZ. We badly need to put together a strong backline for 2020 and so the inclusion of Saab and DWZ would be a good start.

For the profile of Rhyse Martin see link below:

I know how the Dogs are going but if Martin has any brains he will steer clear of McGregor. Dean Pay's team will make the finals before we ever do. We've always had Mary's inadequacies but now the team has lost the spirit that came with being mates with the coach. Take away a few injured and preoccupied players and it leaves us with nothing.

Mark my words, we are heading spoonward.

Realistically, jumpers one-to-five need serious revision. Out of those currently playing, only Lomax deserves a spot. The issue with him isn’t talent, it’s what the best position for him that will service the side most effectively,

To conclude: Dufty, Pearson (although I’d like to see more of him before a proper evaluation can be made), Aitken, Lafai and Peirera should all have their future reviewed objectively.

Each one’s weakness/es are as followed:

Dufty: defensively liabile, prone to ragdolling and uncertainty letting kicks bounce.

Pearson: lack of experience, uncertainty of skill set required to play consistent NRLfootball.

Aitken; substandard passing ability and flawed defensive technique.

Lafai: impotency in attack, injury prone.

Peirera: lack of genuine speed, height and below par under kicks.

I think lomax is going to be ok as you have stated.
I think Pearson is ok as well
But we also need at frontrow or 2.

Yes mate, our backline is being shown up for how bad it really is.

Peirera - l like this guy but watching him catch a ball and try to run is like watching John Travolta with strobe lights on a dance floor. He's all over the place. There is nothing fluent about him and to be honest, he has gone backwards this season.

Rava - Just not first grade material.

Lafai - Well, Barrett was nicknamed, Period, caused he only turned up once a month. With Lafai, l think the nickname of Menopause is suitable cause he refuses to put out at all!

Aitken- This guy tries his heart out but was born with two left feet and struggles to attack or defend. He does put a decent effort every now & then.

Duffy - Unfortunately, young Duff bruises easily and loses all confidence too quickly. Another who can blitz it when on fire but with our spine out of shape, he's not getting the attack right and his defence is indefensible.

Pearson - Hasn't had the game time in the big league and is like a teenager reaching puberty..... (not knowing what to do next)..... which doesn't help our backline in time of need.

Hunt is proving to be the Range Rover of players ...... capable of setting the standard but more likely needing a tow to get him moving again. Definitely missing the leadership of Widdop.

Our coach is a model of consistency in achieving sweet FA regardless who we put on the field.

Sammy:
I agree re Lomax and I think Pearson will be ok too, I think he is a confidence player and hasnr gotten the opportunities to really showcase himself. I have a lot of time for Periera, I just think he's been trying too hard and heinv used as a battering ram, taking hit ups etc. It will be interesting to see where he plays when he comes in.

As for props we actually are screaming for a lock. Young Blocker is a prop and has been trying hard at lock, but he isn't.
Our props aren't being utilised properly. We have quality there in Vaughan and
a near retiring Graham with K.Sims, Lawrie and now Luciano who seems better suited in the middle and young Timm who is killing it in CC, we do need some back up. Kerr is too disappointing, but under a different coach may shine.
Latimore should be in CC only and Allgood isnt what we are after he can go and go quickly.
I realky like the look of the sharks prop Braden-Uele i would take him for sure. Hes coming off contract this year.

In any case until our coaching roster is changed our current set up with Lats included will be the norm unfortunately.

Some good posts here highlighting the obvious.
For me the criteria is simple,..

How many in our backline would make the squad in say, any top 8 side ? Seriously .. None.
Not saying that one or two may not come good, but as its stands if I were these guys manager, I would sign them up pronto on extensions, like Mary..

Agree
Uele is a good player he hits the line hard in both defence and attack.
Was going great for Newtown and has stepped up to NRL with ease.
As much as I hate the Sharks they have plenty of good young guns who are ready.
There system ( coaching seems better) than ours.
Agree re Luc he is better in the middle.
Problem is that Mary sees Korbin as the lock .

So true True.
Also a poor game plan and a lack of training is adding to the problem

Whats this B/S like for like replacement for JDB. We should be able to spend our money how ever we want.
Where the hell we going to find a 13 who plays 7 sometimes.
All the way through this situation with JDB, the NRL have not been very supportive with regards to the problems SGI are facing. SGI are an innocent party in this whole affair and yet are left in a very bad situation; I might say a situation worse than what the NRL claimed to be in.

Our management have handled this problem in the same way they handle all problems at the club; very poorly.

Not sure who is watching the Penrith v beagles game but the bloke who is filling in for kikau In the 2nd row Liam Martin or something. Is actually a lock according to NRL.com and he hits like a truck and made a great line break leading to a try assist. Could really be a cam Murray type lock and would be a out of the box option.

He is also a mate of the Lomax boys
