Dragons statement: Player breach

Here's a novel idea. How about we wait for the facts before the public crucifixion? Just sayin....

What public crucifixion ?

On line fans replying to a story that has been verified by the Club ?

Spare me.

The only facts in dispute relate to who the players are. The Club has acknowledged this breach took place.

Five nights ago my 85 year old father was rushed to hospital by ambulance after suffering a seizure. I couldn't ride with the paramedics and my mother couldn't get into the hospital, due to Covid restrictions.

That's nothing compared to what others have had to endure during this pandemic.

They cant hold off the piss get together for one night after a win ?

These numbers are varying wildly so I'll reserve judgement for the moment. However, IF the worst reports are true and there were upwards of twenty people in attendance, I'd be very happy for all players present to sit out the remainder of the year.

That would represent a meaningful step towards changing the culture.
The NRL will want to punish them severely but won’t want that as they need us fielding a side for the broadcast agreement.

Have a read of the first 20 or so comments. That public crucifixion. I'm talking about the facts. That in my mind is both sides of the story.....which we haven't had yet.
Sorry to learn of your father. Small comfort perhaps but my daughter is a Paramedic. I can assure you he was in the very best of care by her work colleagues. Hope he is OK.

Might be the catalyst for ‘Pathways’ being actually activated
....if most of the journeymen were there.

It’s great seeing our re-cultured ex kids thriving elsewhere though.

I know where the buck stops, but I won’t offend delicate souls

Entitlement breeds complacency breeds amoral self-absorption

...& rank stupidity

If all this nonsense is true what a bunch of selfish individuals they are....its hard to believe that a player, wife, girlfriend friends or whoever didnt know they were doing the wrong thing and flouting the Covid rules...even if they didnt know surely someone amongst the alleged party goers should have made enquiries to see if they were in breach of the rules.....C'mon fellas its been bad enough putting up with your shit on the field without doing it off it....if true you blokes dont deserve the loyal support you get from your fans end of story

Want to reserve judgement on this as the number of players involved keeps varying from 4 to 6 to 12, however, no matter the number, each one has to face the music, so to speak.

As for the 4 'definites', and let's say they are at this stage:
Vaughan - 2nd breach and should be enough to tear up his contract. Will it happen?, possibly not, hefty fine and extended time out (4-6 weeks) maybe the penalty.
Lomax (dear oh dear), Ellis, Maguire and Lawrie, will all have to face fines and mandatory 14 days isolation ie: missing round 18. Same for anyone else whose name maybe forthcoming.
The 'wallet on the BBQ' really concerns me. For mine, doing the bolt, suggests other 'things' were in play, why else would you bolt when Police arrive?

Getting the facts drip by drip unfortunately does create wild speculation. Again, I will reserve my full judgement until the club releases the full story.

This quote is from the police report.
If there was up to 25 people there and a dozen Dragons, why did police only move on 4 men.
Also ages don't all match up to those named.

On Sunday afternoon, a NSW Police spokesperson said:

"About 9.40pm yesterday (Saturday July 3), officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended a Shellharbour home, following reports of visitors at the home.

"Police spoke to the residents, a 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman.

"Four men, aged 21, 24, 25 and 29, were also spoken to and it was determined they were not residents. They were all given directions to leave and return to their homes

They have breached the bio security rules and will be punished with $$ fines and possible games out.

One thing though, and this DOESNT excuse them, but if they went over to Vaughn's house and it was only the players who attended, then they are in a way still in a type of bubble. They drove in their own cars I assume (bubble) to the house and then stayed inside the house (bubble).

I know it goes against the nsw government and nrl rules, but it is literally not as bad compared to if they went out for a coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee or went to a restaurant (like Dugan did).

That's no reason to reduce their punishment, but I think it could be an important angle to keep in mind.

Complete stupidity all round these guys though.

Thank you George.
Both sides of the story should come out before the public crucifixion's begin. Hopefully more to come.

This is stupid but so are the rules. Why cant they be at his house as long as it was just the players there. They train together they play together.
I guess its better being at his house then at some pub.
We can’t have more than 5 why should they .Simple start tearing up there contracts let some kids get fame time .Short term pain will be long term gain
