Dragons statement: Player breach

Yeah we're going to have to put up with all the upcoming journo headlines from so called "nameless insider's", the hundreds of ex footballers from 40 years ago now coming out of the woodwork (who were perfect by the way in their career) to put the boot in and two-bit journo's (who never played the game but make a healthy living from it 🤧🤧 cough cough Hadley cough 🤧🤧).
Their really enjoying this story. Careful fellas. For most of you, kill the game with inane reporting and chasing headlines quoting un-named sources and you'll be banished to working for the Sydney Daily Tell-U-Crap. That's the bottom of the rung for credibility.
Pretty much the smartest post in the thread so far.

Mate they are grown men , as such they do not require an off-field leader , only their own sense of responsibility and good old fashioned common sense .
Perhaps but grown men behaving like children. Someone needs to set an example for others to follow.

Rothfield is an absolute weasel. Accusing us of having a toxic culture when he's a Sharks fan and spends all his time trying to ruin the reputations of others? Righto then Buzz. Admittedly the actions of the PLAYERS were stupid but don't throw stones at this great club. Yes, many of our players were involved but to say that on behalf of the ENTIRE club is just pathetic. Nobody else that wasn't involved condoned it whatsoever.

Why don’t they make a comment about where this has come from, by that I mean 8 years of the coach been a peanut leading by example. DUI on the way to training, a JetSki to a meeting, the 95 meter field. The rot started along time ago cmon man have a go at your mate the good bloke.

No they are not more free to roam around
They have more restrictions than me
They are free to continue their work like many others under a set of rules and get paid
Have they not been punished enough relative to your so called better life than us
Don’t over dramatise it
Just a balanced view to what really was the risk about spread if no outsiders there.

No one is disputing their stupidity and breaking lockdown rules and even PVs sacking after 2 prior warnings
You are wrong.

I heard Ray Hadley mouthing off again last night about there may be the possibility that their were women present (or words to that effect) after Vaughan had told them that there were only the players there....he (Hadley) then added that you know its a bit strange that just Vaughans wife was there with 12 other blokes.....so what are you exactely alluding to Hadley.....My wife for instance has had her Zumba dance ladies back at our place for a few drinks or lunch and Im the only bloke present...or...Ive have had my golf mates back at my place to watch a game and had a few beers and my wife is the only female in the house......throw in stories about Debelin supposibly hiding under a bed and it all adds to the over inflated media hype

Yes they did....we just need the players now to front and apologise.....at this stage Im not holding my breath tbh
Well it has started, with Vaughan. How did he go?
The club stood by him because they had no choice. He was under contract, yet he didn’t play for 2 years. Like I said, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sacked. That’s all.
The Club re-signed JDB during this time. They had every choice and decided to offer a new contract.
What had happened to the limo driver that was allegedly not jabbed snd not wearing his mask in the overseas front line work that alledgefly caused this mess and put the state at risk
Has he been hung drawn and quartered
Where is his TV apology
Where is the balance in the argument compared to what risk these guys caused the community.. zilch allegedly if no outsiders As they are tested every day almost and have all been vaccinated
The limo driver report shows how someone can be made into a scapegoat. Turns out he was wrongly accused on a few fronts, and the police never laid any charges. The NSW government and media have pretty much destroyed his life. More about it here...

Apologies should be given to the driver and his family... that's if you can find them, apparently they've been hounded terribly and have gone into hiding. I'd hate to see something like that happen to anyone.

I watched the Euro Semi final today played in a country where there are hundreds of covid cases recorded a day being played in a packed stadium.

Exactly, a country that didnt really give a shit. If you believe the statistics, even remotely, thats 100k+ deaths. If they dont care to act during normal times, are you really expecting change during football?

The Coffs Harbour scandal did not cop as much bad press as these guys did on the weekend. I mention this because their was alot of players involved. Nobody got sacked, no fines, suspensions etc.

I can't recall but were there fines? Assume no laws were broken or it was all hush. Either way its a known fact that this was widely talked about, and even brought up constantly in the nrl community for trolling, but you can probably blame social media for making it worse today. Now even non-footy people get a dose.

The timing of this is what was the issue. It was done during lockdown with nobody from the public mind you.

I think that is the point. Wait till lockouts are actually over in a week or 2 and it may be more palatable. The fact is its bad optics when everyone in the community is locked up but you allow people to go above the laws. Its not a good look.

He is now finally back and they were just baying for his blood. He hid under the bed etc.

He hid under the bed when he realised it was a mistake. This is the problem people have. Someone that went through what he did needs to be more aware. He wasn't aware when he was cheating against his pregnant wife, and he is still unaware now it seems. Once again bad optics.

A player being sacked and a club accused of poor culture and the other rubbish is just a step to far and was driven by the media to react like this.

I dont think its just the media that talk about poor culture. It seems been rumored and discussed for a while now.

If Vaughan was a cleanskin and this was his first offence I dont think he would be sacked.

Lets see how they treat other cases.

Clubs that are under performing are always under the microscope. Just look at Broncos and West Tigers. Bad on field performance compound off field issues. Its not Dragons exclusive.

The Saints board better step up if they see something is not treated the same in the future.

The Saints board has at least on paper supported everything, they aren't crying poor. They would be the most disappointed in these players actions.

Another odd thing to come out of yesterday from the board is now Norman escaped the same punishment as Vaughn? Has he not go the same amount of indiscretions?

Well his fine was just as high but he didnt host the party did he. I am sure the board are just waiting to sack him as well, given they dont want him next year so its only a short term problem.

Ultimately all that I got from your dialogue was excuses and whining. Everything has pretty much been justified.

Give it a few weeks and the scum will make an offer. Now, that would be funny.

But I know, even Vaughan doesn't deserve that.

I had a quick sticky beak at their forum yesterday , the mongrels were giving the Dragons both barrels , so holier than thou attitude . Of course the peptide scandal has left no mud stain at all over there .

The reaction from the media is really disturbing.
At first it was PV is the organiser and repeat offender he should be sacked.
Once he was sacked, it was why isn't Debelin sacked after his recent history? Why should PV be the only one?
If Debelin is sacked they will then turn on Norman and so on and keep the outrage going for their own benefit.
These guys should be reporting in a level headed manner and not damaging the game any more than it needs to be.

Hadley was foaming at the mouth saying he was angry because he know people who were unemployed.
Hadley is earning more than any of the players. Knowing someone unemployed doesn't give you the right to represent them and act self righteous.
He has had his own workplace behaviour issues that were worse than any of those by the players. Very Disturbing.

I used to enjoy NRL360 despite Kent the bully but without Ikin's moderating and sensible input, I doubt I will be watching.

Believe it or not I was at the same school as him - Yates Avenue Public School at Dundas Valley . He was a skinny whining little bitch even then .

His dad was a minister or a chaplain of some sort who would give the scripture lessons to the kids every Wednesday. Perhaps some of those lessons have left him with the absolute knowledge of what is right and what is wrong ?

Whereas we lesser mortals have no idea or at the very least need to be guided by people like him .

Yeah, you’re right. Saints did resign him when he was stood down. I wonder if they think it was a good idea now?

Oh but for the days of true and honest sports journalists - Bill Mordey , Mike Gibson , Ray Chesterton etc. etc .

They are making out the police are hungry to find out...why?
To issue more $1,000 fines
Is the NRL employing the top cops to investigate?

I’m hoping Hook can rally the boys together so we can still make a finals run. If so he’ll deserve an automatic contact extension

I agree with your comments re NRL 360....it was bad enough that Kent wanted to bully everone on the show and force his opinion on others but now we have "shut up everyone and listen to me I know everything" Hadley putting his 2 bobs worth in about everybody and everything....what particularly annoyed me last night was when Vaughan was being interviewed at one stage he was struggling to answer the questions and Kent said its ok mate take your time and appearing to be very warm and fuzzy to his face, and as soon as the interview finished the panel started giving it to Vaughan and the rest of the players for their actions....as Ive stated ad nauseam I dont condone what transpired with the guilty players but these journos and the media are going to milk this saga to the bitter end...like you I used to enjoy NRL 360 but now Ikin has gone and Hadley appears to be a regular I'll be viewing elsewhere
