Dragons statement: Player breach

Regardless of just how many weeks the players received there is one irrevocable truth that stand out like dogs balls and that is that our season is well and truly over .

No semi , no saying that we gave it our best shot , it is all over for 2021 . Well done gentlemen, you group of players have finally taken away the magic of the Big Red V - means jack shat now .

But thanks for the memories .
Jack shat before, Jack shat now, Jack'll shat again

LOL the reason the suspensions are spread has nothing to do with benefitting the Dragons and everything to do with saving face for the NRL. Stop the blowouts, protect the tv rights. Don't kid yourself.

It's double standards. We broke protocol but stayed in the bubble, Dogs broke protocol and got their club to take the blame and Dugan is Dugan.

If there was ONE person at the party that wasn't either a player or partner of a player, the bubble was broken. It's very hard to believe there wasn't at least one. We've all heard the stories of people running away when the cops turned up.

And again, you fail to acknowledge that whilst all players involved, Dogs and Dugan inclusive, broke protocols, these Dragons players had this party and did so during a lock down. The others didn't. They were just stupid. The penalties should be harsher for doing so.

Hook will use this to galvanise the team. They screwed up. They owe the fans, their families and other players now.
They will serve the suspensions over two weeks and likely lose a game or two but following that LOOK OUT!
Top 8 finish.
Love itCrush , and if they don’t flick them !

I don't blame any fan for any reaction brought on by this basket case. I am honest with my kids and have left their allegiance up to them. If we were sitting here in the 90s they would have been drawn to the awesome St George club and it would be a natural pick up. Now most of what they see and hear regarding the Dragons is negative whether its capitulating on the field or for off field discretions and poor management.

I look at it this way. Every year when we don't achieve our greatest potential I rationalise by saying "there are 16 teams in the comp, you can't expect to win it all and must bide your time" but when dimwitted and ill-disciplined things like this that absolute tarnish an already struggling brand (we aren't a club anymore, we are a brand) you wonder why it's always us. Why us, when there are so many other clubs.

Right now we have to hit back by ending some contracts. Anything less and, while I could never get behind another team, I will go off again and try and like AFL a little more.

The Board meeting tomorrow will tell us what direction this club is heading in.

Webb didn't mince his words in his brief statement, so I expect further club imposed sanctions to he dished out, Vaughan, in particular, will be dealt with very harshly imo, maybe Norman also.

But, wait until it's announced before, listing any possibility of who plays when (if at all).

Plus if they took a cab or an uber home they would likely have broken the bubble anyway.

As fans, let's just hope this somehow works to galvanise the players who do run out. It's a long shot but funny things happen. If we can get two wins out of the next four maybe the season is alive, but that'd be a great feat.

These are the punishments handed down by the NRL, I guess this means Dragons can also hand down further punishments and if that's the case I hope we show some spine and sack a few of these dodos.

Can't.

It is a minimum 2 weeks spread, Max 4.

So you can probably do this a few ways:

Full strength teams v ManlyR18 and SouthsR20
Field weaker teams v TitansR19 and RaidersR21

or vice versa where we just basically weaken the team for the two harder matches.

I think Hook will not go about it that way and will probably take each game on its merit and positional matches.

I am assuming he can pick and choose but NRL may have placed restrictions we are not aware of.

hook will have quite the juggling act dealing with all the forwards that are suspended as we havent got the cattle to have too many out at one time . Just hope sullivan is nearly back from injury to replace norman
Its going to be hard for Hunt to back up from SOO also dont forget

You do realise that Vaughan straight out lied to the Integrity Commission?

No doubt his penalty was increased due to his willingness to not tell the truth and not fully cooperate.

Contrition was required but not shown.
Acknowledge Vaughan’s dishonesty. It’s up to the club to terminate his contract if such an option is available contractually.

Alternatively, the NRL could simply refuse to register his players option.

Agreed, any way you jiggle it the forwards would be the worry. We have enough trouble at times in this department when they are all available and their go forward makes all the difference to the halves.

Not sure how it works with squad numbers but if we can do some forwards shopping in the next week it would be timely, as ridiculous as it has become.
