I hope Mr Webb is reading this thread. That second half was putrid.

I pride myself on staying to the end of games. My friend wanted to leave when they scored that last try and for once I just said “righto, I’ll come with you”. That was with about 10 to go.

Then in the car I hear Ben Hunt interviewed and it sounded like the interviewer was blaming the supporters for leaving with 20 to go. At least Hunt said “yes I could see that when we were behind the try line” and then stated it wasn’t a good enough performance for a home ground. Things that make you go hmmm.

Yes, even at halftime I thought we were a fairly good middle range team. Below the top lot but better than a few others.
I now think we are heading for the bottom shelf.
Yes mate. And whenever the game is in the balance, you know the team will be blown away in the second half. WTF goes on at halftime? Are they all given laxatives and sleeping pills at half time? They are a rabble.

I‘ve been frustrated all day after that performance.

I am normally upbeat and positive, but this was a problem. 1st half the effort was there, but they were Disjointed. Like they didn’t know what each other was doing. Only the fact that the sharkies were making so many errors did we look ok. In hindsight I think they played a different game plan to previous, but weren’t really sure about it.

2nd half they came out flat, just like against broncos, and suddenly the sharks turned it up a notch, and got the errors out. The disjointed attack and defence suddenly under pressure folded, and they lost belief and embarrassed themselves.

guys tried, and you could see the frustration they had. This feels like bad preparation by the coaching staff, and thus time to move and make changes.

new coach has the makings of a good team, we have seen this. But fitness needs improving, and they need to be on the same page and much much better drilled. Lots of guys off contract means we have a chance to improve as well.
There was nothing to like about yesterdays performance thats obvious .....but 2 of your comments stood out to me and I thought exactely the same .." we looked disjointed & like we didnt know exactely what each other was doing".......most teams (not all) usually come out in the second half looking as though some words of wisdom or a roasting have been spoken and absorbed, but with our mob its the opposite.....as for playing a different game plan Im not convinced there was one to start with in the first place.....the most disappointing aspect for me after yesterdays effort was after the Titans and Donkeys games I actually thought we may be at least more competitive this year than was actually expected....now sadly Im not to sure

I read on Fox that Hunt said the half-time instructions were something to the effect of "keep doing what you're doing and take it deep".

That's the issue. The most we're hoping for is to still be competitive come the 80th minute.

Meanwhile, for two weeks in a row and to be honest, for most of last year, the opposition comes out in the second-half having worked out the strategy we planned all week and with a strategy of their own to nullify it.

So we come out trying the same stuff that barely worked in the first forty only to find a team that are now doing something different and we're completely lost.

The truth is too few of the team have pure athletic ability, compare Tyrell Mitchell against our lot - no comparison. There is far too much one out running, take Souths (not my favourite team), they spread the ball out wide a lot, giving the likes of Cook plenty of chances to score. Their approach to the game is miles different to the Dragons.
And that comes down in reality to the coaching staff, analysing the opposition, then developing a game plan identifying the opposition weaknesses and strengths, finally you need the players to execute that game plan, so simply an A, B, C plan. Unfortunately for us we cannot execute A, B, or C at the present time.

How do you guys rate Jack Bird. Sincerely I'd like to see him do well
I watched him at the Broncos game, he really does try but appeared to me to be unfit enough to execute his job on a consistent basis, he is not an overly strong tackler and it appeared to me past his best days unless he has quality players around him to help him do his job, which we don't have at the moment

And that's the difference in the quality of our coaching staff and player talent. As an old coach, I learnt early on yes have your game plan but you must have contingency plans and be able to introduce those plans during a game. Plus it helps if the players can carry out those plans.

Seeing just how fragile this team is makes me think we need a more experienced “Type A” personality w some experience like Hasler / Flanno … I worry about a rookie with this squad , zero resilience
Our next head coach should not be a rookie must be a disciplinarian and not afraid to address the issues that we have at board level and within the current playing group
