Dragons V Sharks Round 4

my previous job I was fortunate to make middle management because anything above that were yes people and pen pushers with little imput to make in relation to the front line workers. But still I had to make hard decisions that affected everyone under my realm of responsibility. My point here is those members of the board who hire and fire people have not lived up to their responsibilities and are just faceless people who unfortunately have the final say in what direction our club takes. They should also be held responsible for their actions and inactions. How you can appoint a person into a position of authority that has no footballing knowledge or background and expect to have a successful football team is beyond my understanding.

You raise some sound points.

Our board “fixed” the voting structure so that anyone who wants to remove them needs to overcome thousands of gaming addicts from other cultures who frequent the club and wouldn’t know what rugby league is.

Webb is just a slave to the board. Appointed at their behest. Before SGI I think he ran some kind of restaurant Pokémon scheme.

Rather juvenile endeavour I thought and hardly a claim on the position, but he takes his orders and like Pascoe, gets paid to spin. Hardly satisfactory I know.

His golden moment was that meeting with Mary in the carpark I think. The tap on the shoulder.
Some say Mary was fully expecting it, so it wasn’t too difficult. Mary was relieved he said.

I have thought this for a while but have resisted sharing. The Dragons are dead. This merged club is not the Dragons. Even the St George half is not the Dragons. No culture. No soul. No desire or plan to be a great club. I feel for the fans who actually go to the game and spend money on the club. It's cultic behaviour. There's no rational basis to associate this club to the Dragons of old. It's a modern day scam.
I believe that we can become a force once again. In my opinion Dragons fans are worldwide whenever I am fortunate enough to travel the world and I have been to 5 continents I always hear and see people who say Go the Dragons when I am wearing my hat, my shirt, my shorts. I don't believe that will ever change. What we all have to understand here is our current board. We have a CEO and football manager coming from sales backgrounds. It makes no sense football wise it's like appointing a bank manager as the Commissioner of a Police Force. You have to have a background in the field of your responsibilities. The current board is split and lacks the necessary skills to make our brand a competitive footballing brand. Until there is change at the very top we will struggle but I don't believe that we will die. It's unthinkable to me

Yes said before the team is split , The Hunt , Hook love affair is sickening , Hunt lost me when he said if Hook doesn't stay he wouldn't sign on .... But we can blame Hook Hunt or who ever we want , but all the blame should be with the divided board with all the bad decisions made ...... The whole joint needs a clean out ......

Agree
if true this should never have been tolerated by the ceo, should have been dealt with 12 months ago. Started with that friggn bbq.
And therein lies the crux of our problems a CEO and a Football Manager who have no footballing background. That BBQ was intricate in starting our current culture and in my view it was the start of the coach losing the shed with really nobody to turn to for help. Just my views

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Even after the first premiership, the joy was shortlived and oddly hollow. What's more, we're on the nose with sport media and with the QRL rasping on about there being too many Sydney teams I fear that there is a shortlist of two likely candidates to be given the relocate or perish ultimatum - us or the Tige's.
the second part about which team to exterminate is something I'm feeling

I thought the same thing to be honest.

It was a critique of the perceived lack of effort by some in your team in the back end of the game.

That Satts made a super human effort in comparison with some of your players.

I don’t feel comfortable criticising your players myself, I hardly have a leg to stand on anyway.

But I think it was his point.

I walked out of the ground w 25 to go.. totally did not expect this inept performance.. 15,000 supporters… all let down.. the team is really disjointed.. I saw Roosters Tupou at the game ..
Dessie will arrive shortly and you’ll start to see some improvement.

He won’t tolerate that second half nonsense.

He will break a players arm first.

Talks are well under way I hear, just hang in there.

Plus you need some solid recruiting. Roster is a mess likes ours.
if true Dessy w be given this season and next.. means Ryles sees out his Roosters contract and arrives 2025?

Nothing to do with our club, Sam Burgess played with a busted eye socket, should that be used as a comparison for us as well, do you think the players would be thinking they need to dig deep for Sattler while standing behind the post after a try, do you think the fans at the ground had any thoughts about Sattler.
Wonderful player but no relevance to our club or tonights effort..

Make sure you honour your statement David and dont watch it....its bloody abysmal and depressing....
Re your last paragraph I tend to agree re garding Hook will it actually change us ??? theres some deep seated problems out on the field amongst our playing group and its not just down to how their coached........I will probably get howled down for this but last year is the first year Hunt has earned what we are paying him....imo currently he looks not in control and is not capable of turning things around by rallying the side when things start to go pear shape..unfortunately we have a new look spine which isnt helping him but good players get on top of this but to me he is struggling.... ..yes he scored an impressive try early in the game but he rarely takes the line on now...anyhow what ever transpires from here new coach or whatever our players need to take a long hard look at themselves and ask am I worthy of wearing this jumper.
I won't be watching it nor any highlights BSE. The guys on the forum have given me a bad picture of the game. By the sounds of things, there were not too many players in our team worthy of merit.

These last two losses, particularly with blow out scores in the second half will weigh heavily on the minds of the players, especially the young ones.

There are several clubs with brilliant individual players. Reading the match reports, Nicho Hynes stood out like a beacon in his first game this season. Most decent clubs have a guy like Hynes. We don't and we really need someone who can regularly be a game breaker and create something from nothing and be a leader for most of the game. Ben Hunt lacks this quality and I also think that Sullivan is not really the answer at 5/8th and I am not happy with the overall performance of Sloan. Junior Amone might need to come into the side. A real pity that Ramsey isn't fit to play.

Maybe the events of the week involving Hook's coaching career at the Dragons may have added to the pressure and drop in intensity of the players. Maybe this drama has been going on in the background for weeks and now taking more of a toll. Whatever the reason, something has to be done to arrest this terrible and diabolical situation we are experiencing.

It would have made sense to me if he had referred to a Saints legend that had passed…but a Souffs legend passing? Do you think they were thinking about Sattler at all during the week?

I read it not as "playing for Sattler" but just as a comparison between a man who played with such courage and passion as to stay on with a broken jaw versus a team of blokes who look like a dodgy haircut is a good enough reason to roll over.

Yeah I’m not making the point either.

It was just topical, of course there are many Saints and Steelers legends to call upon for courage.

Yeah ok…In the end the dragons rolled over and died in the ass. Before the game they were jumping up and down about how they were going to give it their all to save their coach. Well, they proved that they just aren’t good enough. See you later hook. Your team not only let us down, but their own coach as well. These soft cocks need a rocket up them
