Bennett asked for a 5 year deal and was offerred a 3 year deal. After winning the comp. in his second year, the Dragons chased him hard for an extension but the ship had sailed. His value was much higher than the 750k he previously agreed upon and so he moved on.

I too believe Bennett is all about Bennett and the dollars but who could blame him. Brisbane is where his loyalty has alwasys been however, he was always the professional coach at his time at the Dragons.

Completely untrue. Had been denied by all parties on several occasions. The rumor itself has never had any base.

Even if I am wrong in 'my opinion' that he was plotting against the long-term success of the club while still coaching it, there is no question the above is true. Bennett couldn't give a f**k about the Dragons. To him just an enemy club. Why do Dragons supporters openly drool over him on a Dragons forum??? It's sickening:crazy:.

I think among some Dragons supporters there is a real inferiority complex vis-a-vis Brisbane and Melbourne. I would just urge those homies who suffer from it to get over it and quickly. From next year Melbourne are going to cop a good old-fashioned blood-letting against the Dragons and Brisbane won't fare much better. Frizzell, Thompson and Matthews are going to give those midget halves nightmares.

Robbie Farah will be on board to time the passes perfectly so Frizzell, Thompson and Matthews can hit the midgets one on one and then viciously sledge them when Frizzell, Thompson and Matthews leave stud marks on their faces.

And after all that, give Wayne Bennett the finger.

Not sure if serious, or Russian , or just plain crazy.

Why Russian? Because they don't suffer any kind of inferiority complex and when their enemies step onto their lands, they are dealt with in an extremely ruthless and merciless fashion?

If that's the case I propose the whole club, players, staff and juniors go to Russia or pre-season training.

Just a plain old wannabe, who needs to grow up!

Bennett was hired to come and win a premiership for a club that had been long term under achievers. Mission accomplished so win win for club and coach. Brian Smith was never able to do this when he also had a strong roster.
The question is one of ethics should the coach that knows he is going elsewhere do anything to disadvantage his current employer. Our club would have been in full knowledge of the players Bennett would bring to our club e.g. Boyd and Costigan and ultimately that's what good coaches can do bring good cattle with them. It is that pulling power that gets these blokes the gig in the first place. For all his time at the Broncos did he say I will leave all the good players with you and take nobody with me? So ask yourself were you happy with who brought to us? If the answer is yes then stop grizzling about who he might have taken when he left.
Bennett couldn't go back to Bronco's straight away and went via the Knights and the press hype was "can he be the 1st coach to win a premiership with 3 different clubs". Maybe that was more urban myth than reality however cannot blame him for giving it his best shot.
Ultimately coaches and most players are hired guns in a game driven by $$$$$$.
Loyalty is almost entirely in the hands of the fans (which at times is also sorely tested), a few outstanding 1 club / long term players and we should be thankful that we have had our fair share of them.
So in the end we won a premiership and that was his task. To some on the forum he left the club in disarray with the roster. I think our management knew well in advance that was always going to be the ultimate outcome and were willing to pay the price to keep the fans faith by winning the premiership we were demanding and was long overdue.
For mine my issue with Bennett is simply I did not like his defensive style of football and believe it ultimately stagnated our club. Funnily enough the 2010 GF was probably our most attractive game all year but was somewhat due to playing a young side that had already peaked and were probably overawed on the day
The Bennett style of football IMO cost the Bronco's the GF this year. They should have potted a FG instead of kicking for touch all the time. 5 in front not as good as 6 but better than 4 when the conversion was missed. The Broncos played to Bennett's plan and they lost so for the Bennett haters be happy and rejoice in that but don't blame him for what was our hierarchy's job in respect of protecting the long term interests of our club.
In summary we got exactly what we were always going to get "short term gain for long term pain" but will always love my 2010 signed jersey and team photo's thanks WB.

Thank you Wayne for 2010. I will always love him for that.

However, I was cheering loudly for the Cowgirls in the GF. I hope he never wins another comp :)
Cheers.

okay BennyV, rainman44, Old Timer and Country Dragon.

I'm really sorry for not only stating that next year the Dragons are going to give Melbourne and Wayne Bennett coached Broncos a blood-letting, but actually believing it. I should know better. How can mere St George possibly defeat those scum? Holly Makarov! Incredible! What have the Dragons ever done to deserve such contempt? Whatever you homies think it is, I'm still backing Mary and the team to hammer those scum and don't give a f**k if you homies don't like it.

Your constant ranting, raving, abuse and lack of ability to understand and or conduct reasonable conversation has drawn me to the conclusion that you are best described as a jellyfish.
For the record jellyfish have tentacles everywhere that have a nasty sting to them but being an invertebrate they have no spine or brain.

You people give me headaches...

Smith - left dragonsin 2011 and went to Sharks. Didnt follow Bennett.

Scott - stayed on with Dragons until wnd of 2012, when he was told he wasnt wanted. Didnt follow Bennett.

Costigan - left dragons in 2011 to go to Newcastle, a year before Bennett left us. Didnt follow Bennett.

Kapiche?
They did end up there though.

2 minor premierships and a premiership in 3 years is a good reason to have respect for the coach that led us .
There is no drooling numbnuts, you may not have the same respect for Bennett, just don't question others who do.

Thanks to Bennett for 'playing a part' in the numerous victories of that time. Thanks also to Darius Boyd. Both have betrayed the club and are now bitter enemies. Capiche:crazy:? It's not too difficult, even for you:roll:.

Bitter for you but i will always love those two. They put the biggest smile on my face gf day 2010 and i sang and had 20 beers and couldn't feel a thing. We are against them now but always a soft spot for me as my heart never forgets.

Yep, that's what I've said

And for the record, I agree. We will destroy Melbourne whenever we play them. Broncos MIGHT beat us in Brisbane but if we play them at Kogarah again, we will put them to the sword.

not doubting you true, much the way I didnt doubt those that said Bennett was coming.

Until the contract is signed AND hes sitting next to Doust and Benji at the presser, it's not happening
