Benji stated on NRL 360 that Farah's contract is actually worth around $700k with back-ended payments from previous seasons.

Besides, just because WT value his contract at $900k doesn't mean the NRL does. Given his standing in the game I assume they would expect a club to fit him in their cap for around $500k minimum.

This is a good decision from the NRL, it prevents clubs like the Roosters from essentially stockpiling talent.

I thought $300k was the quoted figure...

But Souths can...

Can we just forget Farah. Now part of the Rorters and Danny Weidler circus. He is dragging WT down further and another coach with him. By the time he pulls on a jersey next year he will be 33. Forget him. Nothing to see here, move along..........

$300k for a SOO spine player? Wowsers that's a bargain. Perhaps they're giving a little bit of leeway given the Tigers' timing of giving him permission to find another club when everyone had pretty much settled on their rosters for 2016?

Yeah, I'd say its specific for certain clubs with no cap but access to bug TPAs just signing him for shits and giggles, resulting in the Tigpies having to pay the full amount.

If you are going to push your bizarre agenda for the club not to make a play at Robbie Farah, at least don't make it up as you go along. Farah will be 31 when the season kicks off next year. Would be an absolutely outstanding acquisition for 2 or 3 years, giving the club ample time to find a replacement and see how the new interchange rules effect hookers. i.e. whether 80min players will become more valuable.

He'll actually be 32 at seasons kickoff..
Born: January 23, 1984 (age 31)

I'm still on the fence regarding Farah, lots of good if his body holds up (which its starting not to) but lots of bad if him and barge ass make another boys club..

I've asked the question so many times on here but still yet to get an answer - what is the relevance regarding his age?

No-one is talking about investing in a 10 year player, we are talking about a 2-3 year contract with the view to winning a premiership in that time. Farah is still an ELITE player excelling at the highest level of the game. Who cares how old he is?

Such a dumb, irrelevant argument...

i think its judge each case on merit, you can have both young and old 31 year olds, depending on how many injuries they have had etc..

but i expeect the caution is when you get to 31 - 32, within the space of an off season and 1 or 2 injuries you can go from an elite player to just another average first grader.

and with a price tag associated with farah it can be determined as a gamble if you will get return on investment.

At this point, Farah's price tag is somewhat unknown and my guess would be whoever signs him will get a value signing (even if the NRL force a minimum).

No club can afford what he is actually worth (ie. 850k-1M) with this short of notice so it completely depends on:
1. what the highest (but undervalued) amount offered by clubs is; and
2. where he wants to play for.

I would really like to see Farah at the Dragons however, it seems more likely that he will be off to the Super League next season.

Still not sure age is a factor in this? A bad enough injury can end or hamper your career period. Stanley bros, Matty Head etc all had their career derailed whilst in their 20's.

Brent Tate, Andrew Johns and Darren Lockyer all came back from ACL tears late in their careers... Ben Ross even came back from a broken neck!

On the flip side we are getting much better value for money out of a 30yo Benji (injury wise) than what the Tigers did early in his career. Same could even be said for Sonny Bill Williams who spent a lot of time on the sidelines early on due to knee and foot injuries.

Regardless of age Farah is the best available option in a position we're not particularly strong in FACT.

In simple terms if RF wanted to be a Dragon he would already be one.

He wants to be as rich as he can be and play with the best possible team he can to win another premiership as the last one was 10 years ago.

So if he can be a Rooster he will be one if not he will weigh up his options.

Not saying this is a bad thing after all business is business but I was never fond of anything on the rebound.

Interested by the comment he is playing at the "elite" level. I take it this probably means SOO more than 1st grade otherwise all 1st graders would be "elite".

Daley also picked Pearce, Hoppa and Bird to name a few for SOO and I would not consider them "elite" more lucky than anything. The SOO results indicate time to move some old stagers on and give others a chance. So for mine being at SOO level in NSW counts for very little especially since Daley is already formulating his side well before a ball has been kicked and by the look of it he will be loyal to his perennial losers anyway.

As a club it is time for us to move on and forgot about this issue as it is sucking a lot of oxygen out of our club and we should be concentrating on what we have not what might be if RF wishes it so.

This is a very irrefutably true. I really can't understand the homies who hope the Dragons don't sign Robbie Farah.
