"Parramatta have a very professional setup and a very astute coach and I want to join them because I want to win a premiership......."

Funny that, the Big Fat Pig said almost the same thing......

"It's very professional here. I can see the club going forward," Riddell said.

"I'm looking forward to working with Brian [Smith].

They all say crap like that when they sign for another club ... In essence all Dykes said was that he thought he had a better chance to win a premiership at the Eels, which when he signed was the truth.

Sean Ryan, aka 'Ryano' that I was asking about before. Left at the end of 2001 to go to Hull (?)

Never played with a top shelf half back.

He played with Campbell.

I would have him back in a second. Infact I am sure there was a thread a few months ago where I was saying this exact thing. Let me see if I can find it and we can take a walk down memory lane.

Didn't Sean Ryan head over to the US to play in the League over there? I seem to remember there was talk of him and Richie Barnett going over.

Loks like he played two years at Hull winning player of the year in 2002, and is now back with Paul Mellor at Castleford

I would take him, but i wouldnt pay to much for him..
Bird is a Lock in my opinion, and can play there with Hilder at hooker and Bailey in the Second-row.. The only player i would feel sorry for if we got Dykes is Aitken.. :?

i'd take him especially since we only pay half (if this is how it works)

He's only worth half of what he is on.

I'd rather not have him back.

I'd much rather persist with Aitken, I think he will be a better player than Dykes and has a hell of a lot more years in front of him.

He was so bad in those 20 games at half that they gave him the Dally M player of the year award.

I think reefy is right. Campbell isn't a half. We just whacked a number seven on his back so he'd get the ball more.

Not saying that he's not a star player and deserving of his Dally M... but he's still not a halfback.

What's a halfback? An organizer. How much organizing did Campbell do? Very little. When he was our half, he had Dykes to do the long kicking and the other jobs of a half. At Penrith, he has Gower.

is preston a better halfback than noddy?

i believe dykes could excel under kimmorley since he will have the guidance to know what to do next

under campbell, dykes had to step up and play second halfback

prestons unpredictability was electric, but it wasn't what a regular halfback would do. i think dykes sometime suffered

the more i think about it, the more im warming to it

I am not arguing that Dykes won't go well next to Kimmorley. I have no doubt he will. Campbell and Dykes were phenomenal together, I think they excelled and had the best year of their career together. It really wouldn't matter if Campbell swapped jersey's with Gower. Their roles are not defined by the number they wear on their back. You could say that Dykes has never played alongside a great organiser half but he definitely played alongside a great half back in Campbell.

Anyway that's not the point. Getting Dykes back would be a step in the right direction as I have said plenty of times already this year.

I think it would be a massive step backwards.

Fair enough PJ. Your opinion is usually a good one. You argue that he is worth half of what he is on. If that's what we get him for, what's the problem?
