Angry Joe interviews Major Nelson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RtSGFryKwo&sns=em

Lol Major Nelson went in to serious advertisement mode. "You can share with 10 people!" I can already do that

You can't really. You can't play your copy of a game, and simultaneously let anyone of a given 10 people also borrow it, anywhere in the world.

The game sharing feature is actually a pretty damn cool idea IMO. Theoretically you could only do it with 2 or 3 people, split the costs of all of your games, and have virtually no one checking out the game so you can't access it. It actually represents a pretty good saving financially. It's a shame the feature simply feels like a buy-off for the DRM however.

Only two people can play the game simultaneously.

I know, I thought my post suggested that.

In otherwords, you buy the game, and share it with 2 of your friends, when only one can use it at a given time.

Where did everyone preorder PS4? I don't want to do it at EBgames cause that means spending $120 on the games each and that aint happening

Technically you can already do this on PS3 with I think five people, you make a neutral account and purchase games on there and up to five people can access the account. It used to be unlimited.

Not necessarily condoned by Sony but they have never closed off the ability to do this.

You can do the same on android and ios as well. Account sharing is nothing new, but it's certainly not legal. You also can't login to PSN simultaneously, and sure as hell that loophole will be shutdown as downloaded games get more prevalence in the next gen.

In any case, I think it's a pretty solid idea and theoretically with a small group of friends, a good solution to reduce costs and help forget about the shitty drm. What microsoft should do is allow people to opt for family sharing (which forces daily internet checks) or opt out and allow them to have an offline console (with online activations)... If you opt out of online, your game keys are removed from the pool so you cannot re-sell games. What I would like to see is microsoft cut out the middle man completely and potentially introduce a used game marketplace... So you can buy used games directly from them at a fixed price... Obviously there would have to be limits on how many you could buy or selling a game on there gives you a credit to buy one or something like that.

There a number of ways they can buy back the goodwill. Whether they do or not remains to be seen.

You won't be able to play online multiplayer or with more than 2 people so who cares? That doesn't make up for not being able to borrow a game off a friend which I can already do.

Restrictions are not improvements. Microsoft's direction is of a restrictive nature no matter how many times Major Nelson wants to call it the future. It's their future not mine.

Yea I pre ordered one at jb hi fi, I put down more but they only require you to put down $10 to pre order in store. Jack Tretton said in February that first party games would range form $0.99 to $60US so I would assue they would be $60-$100 australian. Watch Dogs is being listed as $109 on the jb website but hopefully were not paying tht much for individual games but I expect games like destiny will retail for more.

Do you have an official statement from microsoft saying you can't play multiplayer? I've seen this written a few times, but it's certainly not on anything microsoft has released or said in interviews from what I can tell. In any case, even if it were true, it's not really any different to the online pass requirement from current gen games. You must be a pretty good magician though, being able to lend a game to someone, yet still play it yourself at the same time.

Where have I said anything different? Take off your nerd rage hat for a moment, there are plenty of cool ideas they can do if they force the always online upon us in terms of games transfers / loaning / used game marketplace, if they get it right, it's just switched the medium in which things happen. I personally don't use used games, never have. But if this always online allowed me to 'trade in' older games and give me cash credits for something like DLC for another game, then that system would better for me personally than the used game market currently does.

That's a big IF though, at the moment PS4 has the better policy, xbox one has the better launch lineup. So if they come up with something that makes the always online a benefit, then I will consider getting the console early in the piece.

I wouldn't even say the One has a stronger launch line-up, personally. Ryse didn't impress me that much and as good as Forza is, Drive Club is getting rave previews as well. Realistically, I would take the new Killzone over any of the One exclusive launch titles I have seen so far, especially considering what Colin Moriarty of all people (a Killzone hater) said about it.

Given that Sony has yet to unveil God of War/Uncharted/Jak and Daxter/Quantic Dream game/next-gen Gran Turismo/possible The Last Guardian port ala Final Fantasy Versus XIII/thatgamecompany's next game/etc really tells me that they have all the cards right now. All we really have to look forward to on the One, aside from Halo, is a possible Gears game as far as real AAA exclusives go. There just isn't any justifiable reason for me to get a One, sorry to say.
