So atleast this confirms that Eddy is all about the money rather than any hostilities with team mates. IMO he should be dropped for the rest of the year once Snowden comes back. I honestly still can't get over how delusional his camp are

I'd place a wager that Edwards will never play a single country match over his entire career, or even be selected as 18th man. I could be wrong here, but I thought city country was no more after this season anyway?

Rep players are generally able to bump off tacklers, offload the ball and consistently make close to 10 meters per hitup. Edwards has none of these attributes and I dare say never will.

I'm confident that he'll be looking for a new manager in a couple of years.

Wasn't directed at your point.

I always think of Craig Wing as a bench specialist due to his utility ability. Although he started many games in his career, he played multiple positions from season to season.

Gidley for mine, will not only chop down all that comes near him but will kill teams around the ruck. The combo of he and Buderus would be devastating. A little tweaking is needed as he can become somewhat excited and overplay his hand with his passing and playmaking. I'm sure Wayne and Bedsy can help temper that.

This is my point!! :D So even though you say it wasnt directed at my point, it did show your understanding.

I am glad someone could see the ball out the back and didnt get suckered by the decoy run.

Whether he played x amount of games as a starter isnt the issue. He is wildly regarded as a successful utility player. Kurt's future appears to be just that (to us anyway)

I've just read the piece in todays paper and just when you think you've seen it all, something comes along and blindsides me totally.

The level of delusion of Mathers and Edwards is frankly breathtaking and if they truly believe that Edwards is SOO material then they need to get off the crack pipe.

I can only assume that Mathers instructed Edwards to decline the first round of contract offers, makes sense as he'd likely just done the sweet deal for Wes and saw more commission potential.

Now he is trying to cover his ass and managing Edwards expectations, all the talk of SOO and country is player manager "jazz hands" to distract from the reality that he's stuffed up royally.

Reading that article this morning made me feel the same way as I did when I knew Reynoldson was leaving us...endless joy! There is no room for mediocrity at our club.

Mather clearly needs to visit his Doctor. Edwards is crap. His delusional statements regarding Edwards are what you would expect from his family and not a manager. Does Mather manage Dureau?

Has anybody ever seen Roopy and Mather together in the same room? Coincidence? I think not...

Not that I want Eddy to stay or anything but I feel so bad for him... He just tossed $600,000 out the window... Not $60, not even $60,000 but $600,000... That's guaranteed money... That one decision could potentially fu*k up the rest of his life...

I hope do things work out for him because I'd hate to see one mistake ruin a person's life.

He'll probably get $80K to play for some other clubs reserve grade side.

Bad move Joel.

This weeks Delusional Merkin award has ended in a dead heat, with both Mathers and Edwards taking out the gong.

But honestly, SOO contention?

It's a shame because Edwards had a real chance to become a hometown hero if he stayed and played to his potential. I like him, but unfortunately I think he's getting a bit ahead of himself here if it is about money.

I'm not going to crucify him for Mather's words...Mather seems to have a real habit of making a dick of himself and his clients in the process. For all we know Edwards is cringing hearing the SOO comparison, but being told it's best for his bargaining position.

Good luck to him whatever he does. I just hope he doesn't regret his decision or choice of manager.

Its unfathomable. When you factor in everything else besides the money it's even more mind boggling. I mean Edwards is a local through and through, so in terms of monetary value you'd probably put it at about $20-50k the cost of relocation, being away from all your family and mates, cost of living in Sydney or extra costs of relocating interstate and just leaving everything your familiar with. The only logical conclusion I can come up with is Edwards always wanted to stay but he and Mather overvalued his importance and tried to play hardball. They've backed themselves into a corner and can't find a way out now. Reminds of me of a contestant on deal or no deal who for example got a $60k offer, rejected it, wiped out the $100k suitcase and seen the offer get reduced to $35k, from that point on its hard not to just go for broke
