Take this as rumor or whatever you like. I'm not going to reveal the source but given the other stuff they told me at the time I have no reason to doubt it:

Basically da was a dead man walking last year. When the side started slowly in 09 the knives were already out. There was more to the media reports that they wanted da out than just speculation apparently. Anderson basically was saved by the late season run.

My problem with this alleged situation isn't that the club are sussing out better options it's that da seems to have been marked from the new board's first day. It looks like they seemed happy to have road the team's coat tails last year while not seeming to have made a real impact behind the scenes.

We heard last year how there were a bunch of massive sponsors waiting to sign on with the changing of the guard but any extra sponsor revenue seemed to have come as a result of on field success. Selling assets that make the club's cash position look better on paper doesn't count in terms of turning the club around financially.

In any case if this turns out to be true it will be the last thing that makes me lose confidence in the current board and come election time I know where my vote won't go.

Like I wrote before I won't reveal where I heard the tidbit at the start or the link to the club so call it a rumor. In any case I am so sick of the sh*t our club pulls itself through on a continual basis.

Massive sponsor - Pain Away, who hit the wall, owing massive $$$

I am going to wait and sort fact from
fiction in all of this.

If it's true that there was an attempt to fabricate an allegation then those responsible should pay the price.

However if the board has made an informed decision after a review, and the information has been leaked and/or distorted to influence the decision making process by people with conflicting agendas (which is my reading of the situation) I will take a different position.

There are far too many conclusions drawn here, or in the media,
based on speculation.

And far too many posters who will only consider one side of any story for my liking

Completely this.

The emotion this afternoon based on what at this stage is speculation astounds me.
I'll wait until the facts are revealed thanks.

Well seeing as though we're sacking people who don't perform this year we might as well tear up Daniel Mortimer's and Matt Keating's contracts....hell, why don't the board sack themselves too? because apparently the consensus around here is...if we don't have perfection then you don't deserve a job or any type of job security and your contract means nothing. I understand that you have to perform; KPI's; etc, however the way this has/is being carried out, nobody will be left with any dignity or value. There are mixed views about Anderson and there are mixed views about our board but as it stands, no one is going to come out of this for the better. Anderson will be without a job; The board continues to drag themselves and our club through the mud, admist media scrutiny and the team AGAIN has to adapt to a new coaching style which may take some time to yield on-field success and this new coach will have to start with a squad he didn't assemble.

Our problems this year have been blown way too far out of proportion. As far as I stand we have two major problems at the club right now.

1) We don't have a playmaker other than Hayne
2) The rumours; inneundo; and leaks coming out of the club creating instability in culture and disharmony in the workplace

How about we solve those problems first before looking at the coach? The problems with our club are a lot simplier than what they seem.

Step 1) Find another decent playmaker
Step 2) Re-instate a media manager and p*ss off all the media seagulls flying around our club
Step 3) Playout the 2011 season
Step 4) Then decide whether or not to keep Daniel Anderson

It's a multiplier effect, but you solve these two issues and it goes a long way to solving any other little problems our club has.

All I can say is the mindset of a lot of the people involved in our club this year is simply F***ED. Everyone needs to take a step back, grow up and look at the problems as they are.

A new coach where we stand now, is a bandaid solution. Solve those two problems I mentioned above and re-assess where we stand in 12 months time. If Anderson hasn't performed by then, then by all means he deserves not to have his contract re-newed, but everything going on right now? It's all a bad joke....
The bold is pretty funny but very true IMO.

Perfect post.

STEPHEN KEARNEY is set to be offered the Parramatta coaching job when Daniel Anderson is officially sacked this week.
Anderson's dismissal, with a year remaining on his contract, is expected to be ratified at an Eels board meeting scheduled for Tuesday night. The issue of Anderson's tenure came to a head yesterday following radio reports of a racial vilification issue between Anderson and departing forward Feleti Mateo.
2GB broadcaster Ray Hadley claimed that Mateo would make racially based complaints against Anderson if the coach refused to stand down from his post.

Mateo denied the allegations via an Eels media release, which stated: ''I have been told about a report on radio saying that I had complained about a racial issue regarding Daniel, and that it had been brought up in discussion about the coaching situation at the club. That is absolutely not true.
''I spoke with Ando today to clarify this and there is no issue. There has been no racial comments that have upset me, let alone been anything I have complained to the club about. Nothing of the sort has anything to do with me leaving to play with the Warriors.
''What the club does on the coaching front, or anything to do with the board and management, has nothing to do with me and I am disappointed my name has been brought into this.''
Chief executive Paul Osborne added: "No issue between Feleti and Daniel has ever been raised with the club and suggestions to the contrary are completely false. I've spoken to Daniel today and it's the first either of us had heard of this supposed complaint. It didn't happen.''
On a tumultuous day for the club, the much-anticipated review of the club's horror season was emailed to directors. The review, conducted by Osborne and board members Geoff Gerard and Glenn Duncan, did not make any recommendations regarding the tenure of Anderson.
Some board members had discussed the possibility of replacing Anderson with former Cronulla mentor Ricky Stuart, but it's understood the majority want Kearney to take over from next year.
''You're the first call I have had about it,'' Stuart said yesterday about links to the Parramatta job.
Eels officials had considered extending the tenure of Anderson for a further two years. However, that is no longer an option and the club will have to pay out the remaining $300,000 of his contract.
Anderson didn't return calls but his manager, Jim Banaghan, said: ''I spoke to Paul Osborne after I heard those rumours and he assured me there will be a board meeting on Tuesday and if he knows anything more he'll give me a ring.
''Normally with these rumours, where there is smoke there is fire.''
Duncan, a recent appointee to the board and the managing director of Eels major sponsor Pirtek, spoke of the challenges facing the club, which were outlined in the review.
''As a businessman, I was shocked there were no structures, policies, procedures or disciplines in place,'' Duncan said. ''I thought of Parramatta as the envy of other clubs as far as structure but it had all fallen away. There was not even a one-year plan let alone a three- or five-year plan.''
Asked his view on the coaching situation, Duncan said: ''If we're not going to extend Daniel's contract … and the way things are going that is not the view [of the board] … then I'm in favour of making a change.
''If you put Stephen Kearney's name up and you asked me is he someone who could put in disciplined structures and a playing style for the future - yes, he can.
''But we need to start with some disciplines and structures first. That's my personal view.''

I'd like to know the thoughts of those jumping up and down at the highlighted quote by Mr Duncon who apparently was one of 2 directors who voted to keep him.

If they dont like the way anderson runs the team and he has been given ample oppurtunity to do so then i have no problem with them terminating his contract with full pay and getting someone else. I don't like how they have gone about their buissness atm, they should be upfront:
"we are letting you go daniel for (__) reason, you will get a full pay out".

Well no one has come out and said DA is gone. Ffs, do these puppets know what they are doing. We are the laughing stock of the nrl, and I truely hope the players rebel.

4 coaches in 5 years, no wonder we are struggling.

fair point from duncan, if we're not going to extend DA's contract, then there's no point letting the season drag on with uncertainty.

he's had his say and now he supports the board as a group, well played

If Kearney gets the gig, God help us all.
That nuffy achieved everything on the back of some Bennett baby-handling.
Sure fire sign of a 2011 disaster.

Yeah, Kearney won't have Bennett pulling the strings.

Although I'd much rather Kearney than Stuart, I'm glad his name hasn't been mentioned.

That said, if Ando does get the sack this club is bloody joke, the lunatics are running the asylum.

Wow.

So he gets handed a rabble, gets them to a GF without a halfback. Has them play disciplined footy with consistent defence - but without a halfback can't score enough points to win games.

And then gets punted without being given a fair crack at recruitment for next year...

This is so different to the axing of Hagan it's not even funny. Hagan was given the team he wanted when he arrived, crapped up the recruitment of juniors in those 2 years, flicked all the young halfbacks in the joint and then "left on his own terms".
Anderson inherits the mess, starts fixing it by bringing a more disciplined structure - and is punted for not having a halfback (who flicked Maloney and Hodkinson again?)

I'll support the club over any individual - but this isn't the coaches fault.

I'd like to know why he voted to keep him given that he was so shocked about what he found? :?

doesn't sound to me like he voted to keep him (well not to let him finish his current contract) - who supplied the info that he backed ando?

No one year or five year plan?

If this has any hint of truth to it, then god help us all - how many years will we have to put up with these clowns, and how many more years after that will it take to rebuild a functional structure on the rubble they left behind.

I feel sorry for Anderson, and am embarrassed as a supporter the way the club has acted this year.

He meant the coach doesn't have a plan.
Spoke to a player last night and app there was a report/survey done on the players with ozzy, Duncan and Gerard. Pretty damning stuff from the players and coaching staff directedat DA
Wait and see to what extent I guess when it gets out

Thanks for the correction . . . Reading the post through blurry Sunday morning eyes.

Going by your info, then that could spell a rift within the playing group, with the statesman like Hindmarsh backing Anderson?

I hope the problem they have is not due to being afraid of discipline.

Loook at the Dragons success when the players embrace a renown disciplanarian and his plans.

Irrespective of all, the club has been in the media for issues of disharmony at a board level for much of the season. Not a great report card for effectively their first full year.

No disrespect but Ando is hardly a Wayne Bennet.
If this report is how I perceived it then he def can't get the respect Bennet can out of his players

perhaps its time the club looked at the over sized egos of a few of the players.Anderson was good enough last year to guide them to the finals. This year a few of the standout players from last year where missing in action.
As for Kearney would be a huge mistake.Steve Folkes would be a far better option a proven coach
