I am unsure, but having read of some of the findings of this somewhat "independent" review, I find them quite alarming. So......... not knowing all the details I am happy to accept whatever decision is made at this stage, as those that make these decisions are ultimately responsible for the outcome.

"I said recently you either have to commit to Daniel and extend his contract or you have to part company because no one can coach for one year. I haven't seen a coach yet coach for one year.

So what happens if Stephen Kearney has a bad second season? Will the board then sack him for the same reason?

Wow Im feeling really crap at the moment. If the review has come up with all this sh*t that DA was doing wrong then why did it take all season for someone to find out? Doesnt someone keep an eye on all this? Or do we just appoint a coach and hope for the best. We just dont look very professional in any capacity. Maybe the players are just as much to blame as the coach. Will they be sacking any of them? And if Kearney doesnt win his first six games what then? So many questions, sadly not enough f**kin answers. Kearney must be mighty nervous about taking over this rabble. This board is going to be mighty nervous come next season. I can see that all this pressure is going to make us crumble. Oh well maybe 2012!

Personally, I'm of the view that you can't actually expect reasonable results from a coach unless you give them a 5 year deal. But that probably won't happen in this day and age as "Results are expected immediately".

At least this year they are actually doing a review of the season.

Hello all,

I would like to ask a few questions if I may.

As those of you who know me well enough will know that come the end of the Football season my focus in life moves to other things, unless we are playing in the finals I have other events that I need to take care off, as such I am just back from Perth this week and have spent the back end of this week either doing radio interviews, or sitting industry exams. As such I was not listening to the Peanut show yesterday, the first I have heard about all of this was last night when Jono Wrights mum SMS'ed me to ask if it was true, I read this thread and could not ascertain either way, this morning when I re-read this thread a few questions have spring to mind.

While many hear on the forum saw the press release from the club, was it mentioned on the Peanut's show?

When the Peanut went to call the game, what was the general "resolution" to the issue or was the Issue left open.

There are those of us who read this forum to get the most up-to-date information on the club, but it is a small amount when we think about the thousands of members the club had this year.

I said during the election that I was all for change as long as it was change for the better, at the time I stated I failed to see how they would be change for the better, and at the moment I am still failing to see. Maybe they will pay for this at the Ballot box, maybe they wont.

All I know is that at the moment we are lurching from one disaster to the next, and it disappoints me so. After the 2009 elections most were resolute that we must move forward with the club. It now seems that moving forward has meant pulling the club down and starting over with a fresh slate.

I am committed to a number of things before the elections this year, and I am starting to think that it is for the best, because with my commitment to this club, and what is going on, I might never come back if I watched to closely.

If someone can answer my questions so I can see the lay of the land then that would be appreciated.

The Sunday Telegraph understands Anderson had the support of most senior players when they were interviewed over the past fortnight.

But it was a different story when members of his own coaching staff and other football club officials where interviewed by Gerard, Osborne and Duncan.

Among the recommendations from the report were: not to extend Anderson's contract; appoint a wrestling coach; address Anderson's communication skills with his staff; address the lack of player discipline and punctuality at training; more individual skill sessions; and the need for a better recruitment policy.

The report also recommended the appointment of a full-time football manager, which Anderson had originally not wanted.

having read that i'd go with sacking

Player discipline and punctuality for training comes back to the player, and would go along way to the pea hearted efforts on display by some one gameday.

Wow.

So he gets handed a rabble, gets them to a GF without a halfback. Has them play disciplined footy with consistent defence - but without a halfback can't score enough points to win games.

And then gets punted without being given a fair crack at recruitment for next year...

This is so different to the axing of Hagan it's not even funny. Hagan was given the team he wanted when he arrived, crapped up the recruitment of juniors in those 2 years, flicked all the young halfbacks in the joint and then "left on his own terms".
Anderson inherits the mess, starts fixing it by bringing a more disciplined structure - and is punted for not having a halfback (who flicked Maloney and Hodkinson again?)

I'll support the club over any individual - but this isn't the coaches fault.

Ditto

As previously stated, and ridiculed for, Anderson has never been wanted by the current management. I was of the belief then and I continue to be of the belief now that they have made things as difficult for Anderson as they could so they would have a reason to sack him. You can laugh all you like but it ain't hard to join the dots. The only players Anderson publically came out to announce/support the signings of were Shackleton and Poore. The rest of the signings (Tahu, Mortimer, etc) he was conveniently absent and it was the Osborne Show. The ridiculous amount of money that had been stockpiled to chase Quade Cooper meant Anderson had that much less to chase quality players.

It says a lot when the morons running this club would rather burn $300K to sign who they want (and a nuffie who has never coached a first grade team at that) rather than just let the current coach see out one more year of his contract. Perhaps they fear Anderson would have a successful season and then they would be pressured to extend his contract.

I have been a Parramatta fan for over 30 years. I will always be a Parramatta fan but I am currently embarrassed to admit it.

Can only hope Sterlo is one of these former players looking to challenge the board come next elections.

''Normally with these rumours, where there is smoke there is fire.''
Duncan, a recent appointee to the board and the managing director of Eels major sponsor Pirtek, spoke of the challenges facing the club, which were outlined in the review.
''As a businessman, I was shocked there were no structures, policies, procedures or disciplines in place,'' Duncan said. ''I thought of Parramatta as the envy of other clubs as far as structure but it had all fallen away. There was not even a one-year plan let alone a three- or five-year plan.''
Asked his view on the coaching situation, Duncan said: ''If we're not going to extend Daniel's contract … and the way things are going that is not the view [of the board] … then I'm in favour of making a change.
''If you put Stephen Kearney's name up and you asked me is he someone who could put in disciplined structures and a playing style for the future - yes, he can.
''But we need to start with some disciplines and structures first. That's my personal view.''

I'd like to know the thoughts of those jumping up and down at the highlighted quote by Mr Duncon who apparently was one of 2 directors who voted to keep him.
a scenario for you:
mid-season a story emerges that pirtek want anderson out. a story which pirtek say is false.
the board, who allegedely want da out call for an end of season review. two members of the board vote in favour of da. one of those being the pirtek dude to make it look like he will be impartial so he gets put on the review panel.
then from the review he comes out with claims that da has no plan to make da look incompetent. then that way the spinning of no pressure from pirtek and an neutral review can be bandied about. show support while working against your allie. destroy from within etc. sun tzu would be proud.

maybe a conspiracy theory but it seems to fit.

i would very much like to hear from geoff gerard about this.

Dan, just remember where the story about Duncan being one of 2 directors who voted against sacking DA, the same bloke who told us about the Feleti saga...

it's painfully obvious who's feeding pulling the strings on this idiot and he will never let go until he ireperable damage.

Ray Hadley the puppet of Fitzy?? We've been hearing that for a while :( if it is true, well.....it is an absolute disgrace by Fitzy and Hadley to sabotage a club that Fitzy was legally voted out of. If true, Fitzy should be jailed for black-mail,and that scum Hadley with him.

If this is all true, then I will forgive our board.....

just throwing it out there, mate. i don't think most of us are ever gonna know exactly what has happened and how much of it is spinning from whoever. what i do know is that apart from the end of 09 (which i give a chunk of credit to da for) our club seems to be in worse shape than when fitzgerald was running the show. i am not saying i want df back in charge because i don't but we seem to have gone way backwards.
