Ray Hadley reignites bitter feud with former Channel 7 reporter Josh Massoud
One of rugby league's great feuds has continued with radio host Ray Hadley gleefully telling his listeners ex-reporter Josh Massoud has been removed from his role as a Parramatta Eels media trainer.
Massoud resigned as Channel 7's lead league reporter last May after he allegedly threatened a 21-year-old cadet who posted one of his stories on social media before it went to air.
He was allowed to resign rather than being sacked by the network and has since been spotted working out of an ice cream truck, including at Leichhardt Oval last season.
The outspoken pair have been at loggerheads for years, with Massoud's inflammatory tweets about Hadley's 2014 marriage breakdown believed to be at the centre of their public feud.
Hadley, who has previously labelled Massoud a 'grub' and 'universally disliked' by media colleagues, led the outrage which ultimately cost the former Daily Telegraph reporter his career in 2018.
And based on Hadley's comments this week on his popular 2GB radio show, it appears the veteran broadcaster is determined to ensure Massoud remains exiled from rugby league permanently.
"Look I've been doing a little bit of work over the last couple of days on a bloke who I have no regard for … his name is Josh Massoud," Hadley said.
"He formerly was a journalist with News Limited and then went to Channel 7 where by mutual agreement he was terminated.
"… I was disappointed to hear that of all clubs the Parramatta club had retained his services to train the players and officials in media.
"I suspect given the allegation was he wanted to slit some bloke's throat they may have been (looking for) a way of dealing with (members of the) media they didn't like.
"In any case I've got to the bottom of it … and suffice to say (Parramatta Leagues Club chairman) Max Donnelly has just confirmed with me that going forward Mr Massoud will not be involved in any capacity with the Parramatta rugby league football club.
And that can't be a bad thing, given his history. And I have a history with him as well and needless to say I'm delighted he won't be employed there.
"It looks like Josh, it's back to the ice cream truck."
Hadley went onto explain Massoud had been employed by a media training company that the Eels had hired to work with club staff.
The influential host happily reported both Donnelly and Eels CEO Bernie Gurr have assured him Massoud would have no further association with the club in any capacity.
