but only Eels players are apparently stars
Never understood the media's use of the label "star". IIRC there was a merkin who played 20's for us once and was arrested last year in Centennial Park in a huge drug bust. The Telecrap had him as Eels Star Arrested in Drug Raid.

EDIT: Here you go

While he's 100%,not a star, you clearly missed his 20 odd FG games for us.

Not that surprising to be fair. He was quite unremarkable despite being a giant of a bloke.

Eight of the 17 players - including star halfback Mitchell Moses - that took the field against the Knights are without deals for 2020.

Arthur himself also isn’t signed on beyond this year.

Now there are reports the Manly Sea Eagles are set to table an offer for Clint Gutherson after the Eels captain rejected the latest contract offer.

Speaking on NRL360, Kent said Eels fans had a right to be worried.

Manly to table Gutho offer

“Mitchell Moses, his game last week against the Wests Tigers, probably threw another $100,000 on his contract,” Kent said on NRL360.

“Parramatta, to show how naive and inexperienced they are at this negotiation process - this new lot they’ve got doing this - that night at 10pm they rang his manager and said “we have to meet tomorrow”.”

“He wasn’t even in Sydney.”

Arthur angered by slow start

“It shows that they are beginning to panic a bit and it’s a real concern for Eels fans.”

Eels coach Brad Arthur, however, denied the uncertainty around contracts was affecting performance.

Speaking after the loss to the Knights on Sunday, Arthur said they lived in a “professional” era.

“These blokes get paid to be professionals and roll up every week and put their bodies on the line and that’s why I was proud of them today. “We’ve got to do it again next week.”

A frustrated Clint Gutherson says he's been hurt at being labelled greedy over ongoing speculation around his future at Parramatta beyond the 2019 Telstra Premiership season.

Gutherson's long-term future has been dragged through the headlines over the past month, intensifying with every reported contract movement made by the 24-year-old off the paddock.

Gutherson refuted a Channel Nine report on Wednesday claiming the Eels skipper was due to meet Des Hasler to discuss the prospect of linking with Manly from 2020.

"I am very sick of it," Gutherson said on Thursday.

"It's never nice to be in the headlines, being seen as greedy hurts and hurts everyone close to it. Every fan takes it a different way, my family takes it a different way and everyone close to me take it a different way.

"It's a very serious time of my life, it sets up the rest of my life and I've got to take a look at it every way I can and do what's best for me and my family.

Eels v Dragons - Round 8

"It takes time and is a big part of my life. It's my career and I've got to take it seriously."

Gutherson conceded he was initially upset by the Eels' first offer after giving him and his manager Sam Ayoub an indication he was a priority re-signing at the club.

The Cromer junior dismissed talk he planned to meet with Hasler as a way of bumping up the Eels' latest offer.

"To be brutally honest yes it did hurt but to go out about it that way might have put me on the wrong path," Gutherson said.

Get ready for Magic Round

"But it's part of the job and you've got to run with it. I haven't met with Des, I saw that on the news.

"I haven't spoken to Sam since after the game on Sunday. I want it done just as much as everyone here."

The uncertain future of Eels coach Brad Arthur seemed to irk Gutherson the most when openly talking to the media at a session on Thursday.

He indicated the growing speculation on his own deal couldn't drag on into the second half of the season.

"I don't know, they stated earlier in the season they were going to wait until the end of the year but I don't want this to hang around until then," Gutherson said of Arthur's deal.

"He's a massive part, I've stated he's the reason I come here. I love Brad, his family and what he's about in life and footy. It's a big part but has nothing to do with me, it's up to the club.

"The sooner that gets sorted maybe it can help."

Parramatta will be looking to bounce back from their upset loss in Newcastle last weekend when they host St George Illawarra at Bankwest Stadium on Sunday.

Out of curiosity could you give me the rate you pay........asking for a friend........

Oh, they have all sorts of plans.

I'm on a 25,000 rupee a year low level plan. Basically I outsource drinking hard liquor alone and stern-faced in the dark, lying awake at night looking at that one shadow on the roof while stressing about the day, getting unnecessarily short with family and friends, and overreacting to everyday situations.

But you can go right up to tailored plans where you outsource moping, dithering, hand wringing, spending two hours sobbing in the shower for no specific reason, giving others the silent treatment, alcoholism, cocaine addiction, spending too much money as part of a mid-life crisis, flying off the handle and beating the snot out of your boss....there's all sorts!

Do they have a plan for being an Eels fan?
