Maybe I was/am harsh on Guth. But I just don’t get how anyone could have that piece of shit as an agent. Surely each player looks into the background of the person representing them.

Mini was still playing great footy in his retirement year.
He was but he wasn't any faster than Gutherson by that stage. Gutho is also capable of playing great footy, despite being a 'slow' fullback.

The main thing is that you have enough line breaking ability throughout the team. It isn't essential in your fullback.

You want to move Gutherson out of a position because he's "slow" and put him in a position where you arguably need more explosive speed? Also negating his high work-rate and ball playing abilities?

No. I've always seen Gutherson as a centre. His strength, his tenacity and his (fairly limited) ball-playing skills and his defensive capabilities are all suited to that position. And I think we would have an incredibly potent backline with the inclusion of a fast, specialist fullback.

I think I’d prefer Gutherson, a specialist fullback, at fullback and have a specialist centre play centre

I don't see him as a specialist fullback. Don't get me wrong; he is a good fullback, but I still see him as more of a utility player. He may continue to develop, and may become even better at fullback. I still think it's no coincidence that the very good teams (Melbourne, Easts, Canberra, Manly, Souths) all have fast fullbacks, though.

Tommy T is not particularly fast. Either is Adam Doeuhi. And who has better ball playing skills?

Hypothetically, who do you move from centre:

- Waqa Blake, who is big, fast, strong, and a great defender at centre?

- Michael Jennings, who is fast enough, a great defender, and has won Tests, a Premiership, and Origins at centre?

I used to think that Gutho was best suited to centre, but I think his 2019 season put those fears to bed.

If gutho retires having reached half the career heights as mini did, he’d be a gun.

I hate to tell you but if speed is the only thing you require from him, he won’t continue to develop that. He’s as fast as he’ll ever be.
You don’t see a guy who played all his lower level footy at fullback and now the vast majority of his NRL career at fullback as a specialist fullback? He “can” play centre, doesn’t mean he should.

Lol limited ball playing skills. He is quite possibly the best passer amongst current NRL fullbacks. If he had the speed you’re complaining he doesn’t have, he’d be the best fullback in game at the moment

Gutho's gonna give us plenty of line breaks, he just aint gonna finish them from a distance.

Titans also have a fast fullback, as do the knights, dragons (with Dufty), Warriors (they have the best fullback in the game imo).

You play to your strengths in the squad. Having Guth at fullback, who is probably the best ball playing fullback, allows our halves to take on the line a bit more, which is a good thing cause Moses and that "overrated little twerp. Destined to become the next Daniel Mortimer" have pretty good running games and are both fast themselves, probably the fastest in the competition.

I know Gutho isnt the fastest fullback, but is he really that slow?

Was there actually that many occasions this year where a lack of speed cost us? Only one I can think of is against the young sharks centre.

And from memory he participated in / finished quite a few long distance tries / line breaks - so he seems to have the speed to “back up”.
