Eels in the media

Kind of forced into it though. Should they avoid protecting the welfare of a player in order to probably cause more detriment to his welfare?
Well done to the booers for extending the pain
Maybe the club should get new fans then. Parra fans have one this a number of times in my time of following the club of 22 years.

Burning the jerseys after 2001, protest against Brian Smith, taking over the board against Fitzgerald, booing the team a number of times after atrocious performances. Did we also have a coin throwing incident or was that another team?

Parra fans are happy to pay and eager for a premiership. If you can't improve performances and will throw a 1 liner each press conference, this will keep happening.

It's more a social comment on society and how the anonymity of internet emboldens people and some people say things that they would not normally say face to face, simply because they are rarely held to account. The booing in the crowd is the same to a certain extent, however I expect that anyone who does that on Friday night will be held to account by those around them and quickly told to STFU. As @Phil Mann Stand said ^^^, I have never witnessed the boing of a kid from our own club like that. Lower than low.

Someone else touched on it earlier - I believe those booers would happily have booed Jake to his face.

But this word she kept clinging to - gutless...

It's just so naive.

Was it wrong to boo Jake? In my eyes, yes - his dad put him in this position, and Jake has done nothing wrong.

Does it make the booers gutless? No; it makes them uncouth, and uninformed.

The OP should realise that, like it or not, the booers paid money to watch the team play, and witnessed - yet again - a defensive effort beneath even an under-6's side, and they are frustrated.

"It's just a game!"

Sure - but to many people (myself included), it runs deeper; the Eels remind me of my dad, and it is a family passion.

And watching them give up weak efforts every week makes the blood boil.

The most I got out of that was how clueless 60’s is, “he’s earn’t his spot apparently lol”

He was the one dribbling all pre season he was a must selection. Just because you run your own website doesn’t mean you have a clue about football. He should run for the CEO’s job next he’s about as qualified as the gimp in there now.

Has more of a clue than you....

I recall a match at Parra Stadium versus Canberra in 87/88. Our Eels were behind 22 to nil at halftime. They had played abysmally and were booed unmercifully as they left the field. Rumour has it Bob Linder went to his locker and put his Queensland Jersey on under his Eels Jersey and along with Sterlo played magnificently in the second half to secure a spectacular win. Our champions were cheered off the ground like never before. The players acknowledged the disappointment in "Their Fans" and responded accordingly. The fans sent a message that the effort wasnt nearly good enough. Its designed to elicit change. It worked. I wonder if we will see change on TLT?

So what exactly is the club going to do with this probe. Surely they can't ban fans from the game because of that.

You're not really comparing apples & oranges here. Missed tackles and dropped balls will sometimes cop a half time spray, but boing a 19 year old when his image appears on the big screen or when he runs on the field ? Why ?

From my vantage point in the stands Ive seen time and time again spectators jumping out of their seats and bringing back trays of 4 beers at a time. Maybe only part of the issue but what is being done to address this? Its ok to point blame and be holier than thou but there are always things that can be done. Easier to point a finger I guess.

Are you suggesting people shouldn't be able to buy 4 beers?

The fans are sending a message Gronky. They arent happy. It can either be ignored or addressed. Understanding why may well provide an opportunity to find an appropriate response or compromise. Of cause the other option is to do nothing and hope it goes away. Acknowledgement of peoples frustration would be a fair starting point. Of cause there will always be those that say. We are right, they are wrong so fu*k them.

Burning the jerseys isn’t directed at an individual.
Protesting Smith was in direct relation to performance and for the most part not abusive.
Board challenges are part and parcel with an open process.
Booing the team on performance is directly related to performance and not individualised.
The coin throwing was at Judas due to his treatment, and are we condoning that now?
What part of booing Jrthur is related directly to something he has done or isn’t abusive? It’s dumb, misguided treatment. People need to separate him from BA. Or if they’re booing Jrthur because he’s not playing well, then what the f**k are they watching because by my count we’ve used 24 other players and maybe 3 of them can hold their heads up, and one of them has only played half a game.
